Interesting. I just turned mine on and off several times. Locked the car, unlocked it etc. and it stayed where it was last set. Mine's new so maybe a software update?

Tried a few more experiments including starting the car with and without the phone in the car and it holds the off position. Using an iphone 11.

Interesting! I turned it off twice. After the first time, I figured that maybe I didn’t actually turn it off so I tried it again. But both times it reset to on with a subsequent start up. Maybe the 3rd time will be the charm. If yours stays off, it has to be due to software.

Oh, but maybe it’s a country thing. Are you in the US? Maybe for some idiotic reason you can’t permanently deactivate it in the US. (Edit: oh, I see that you are in the US)

Tried but would not stay off... Ugh oh well. I got away with the T-Design 9 module for the console buttons and now I just have to set the email notifications to off manually when I get in the car... win some, lose some... Thanks all...

It’s pretty strange. All the other settings remain (as they should). Why would this one always revert back to the default? No a big deal, but it is strange. Clutchplate, please confirm if yours stays off. Thanks.

Looks like there are two places to set this, one as mentioned above and the other in the phone menu under phone/options/ phone settings. In my car the one in the sound menu reverts to on (not immediately but after several hours) and the one in the phone menu holds the off setting.

Aha! That must be it. Thanks. Why didn’t my dealer’s “Porsche Expert” know this?

Ok, no matter what car settings I turn off regarding the email/text notifications, they turn back on with each subsequent start up. Fortunately, I’m retired so I get/send very few texts and emails each day so it’s not really an issue. If I got many, it would be quite annoying. But I guess as soon as the weather warms up, I’ll have the top down and I won’t be able to hear the dings... with the top up, I like to listen to pod casts through my phone so I need to have the phone on. Otherwise I’d just shut the phone off. But I sure wish the notifications would just stay off...

Hadn't looked at mine for awhile but they also turned back on. Guess you can't keep them off.

I do have my iphone set up in "do not disturb while driving" mode so I don't get alerts.

1. Settings
2. Do not disturb
3. Select bluetooth or manual, Apple Carplay.

Thanks. I deactivated the notifications on my phone. It’s still strange that the car always reverts to on. I guess that’s so Porsche can always annoy you with marketing material or the latest Lifestyle Catalog. 😀

You don't need a $4,750 soundbar? Probably can't turn off alerts on that either.

So even with my phone in Do Not Disturb, and my phone is silent when messages arrive, I STILL get the “ding” notifications in the car. So I guess, that’s just the way it is...

I'm not sure if the interfaces are the same for CarPlay of different manufactures, but on my Camaro there is a separate CarPlay menu once you are in CarPlay that lets you alter some notification settings.

With my phone on silent, I will get the badges on the screen, but no pre-view and no audible "ding", even when using Waze or listening to music on my phone.

You need to save these settings to your Key! Make the changes in your PCM, then save to your KEY memory. It will hold then.
