Third Porsche, Third Cayman, First Post
My first Porsche was an 07? Atlas Grey Cayman S. I can't really remember this car. This was an impulse buy, a used single clutch auto. It was beautiful to look at but awful to drive and it didn't last than 3 months.
While looking for used R8's and deciding I didn't want the attention, I remembered that I still loved the idea of the small Porsche.
After finding out that 2017+ were going to be turbos, I found a 2016 Rhodium Silver GTS with PDK. Finally figured out what the fuss is all about.
While looking for a 2016 GT4, figured out that a 2020 wouldn't be (relatively) that much more, started looking.
Waited a month for an allocation that never landed, then a month+ looking up and down the west coast for what I consider a daily driver spec.
Conversations included:
30 minutes after getting home, this is why no buckets:
Others include swapped Civics, Integra Type R's, S2000's, couple generations of the M3, S4's, an 08 RS4 and a 19 RS3 + family truckster S/Q5's.
For Q5's, give the the plug in hybrid a try over the SQ5, I like it a lot and hardly ever put gas in it.
Better than even odds I'll keep the GT4 for a while, looking forward to learning more here.

"python green is a beautiful color, I'm certain someone will love it"
"15K over with mandatory options... sure, I'll let you know"
"no, i don't want the buckets. do you have any without buckets?"
Finally sourced a no bucket/no leather/white and picked up in LA in early November. Dealer was 10/10. Out in 90 minutes, home 24 hours later with break in miles taken care of."python green is a beautiful color, I'm certain someone will love it"

Children who sit in the front seat before they're larger in size are at risk for head injuries due to the impact of the airbag or the airbag's ability to lift them off the seat and hit the top of the car. ... Most crashes affect the front of a car, making this position the least likely to take impact.
Even in California it is no longer illegal to have a child in the front seat;
According to California law, the 11-year-old can ride in the front seat. However, the back seat is the safest place for all children, so place them all in the back. The 11-year-old needs the lap and shoulder belt. The 4-year-old needs a booster seat used with a lap and shoulder belt.

thanks everyone!
on white: I'm not really a red, yellow or blue car person. I'm done with black so that leaves either GTSM, the whites and maybe chalk. I quickly discovered that the allocation process is hilarious and sad. On-hand dealer inventory seems to revolve around the variations of the spec I ended up with + deviated leather, or +15,000 in leather. I was sort of rooting for GTSM but LA had a white that was 95% of the "daily driver" spec I wanted, the dealer was better than average working out the deal and the timing to pick up the car worked out. Besides, you cant really see the outside of the car from the inside.
on forums: I don't feel like i have much to say and I'm a bit more of a lurker than anything, and barely that.
on car seats: part of the path to the new GT4 was driving the 16's. 3 out of 3 I was able to drive had buckets. While I don't mind them, my local dealer confirmed that car seats are a no go in buckets so that was that. I imagine that there are 20-30 people who have dedicated their lives to making sure that the Cayman and other models are safe cars to operate and perform well when bad things happen. Plus, risk is risky. With the missus, it didn't even come up: we have a good car seat, properly installed in a modern car and we're within our state laws
