Default Ordered a 718 Spyder - configuration inside!

I have gone back and forth between a 992 Carrera S and a 718 Spyder - ultimately it came down to 2 things:

1. The driving experience: much better in the 718 Spyder, 992CS has become too bloated unfortunately.
2. Cost: my 718 Spyder comes in at $120,000 while my configured 992CS was over $150,000 and I could not justify the price difference.

I found this allocation on 12/02/2020 through a broker and I got my configuration to the dealer time before the lock on 12/05/2020! Just waiting on V200 status later this week and I am all locked in!

My build is below and I take delivery in early February 2021, a nice late Christmas present and early birthday present This will be a second/third car for me and my 6th Porsche.

Congratulations!

Nothing really much to comment on, as your build looks pretty well optioned.

It seems that most of the critical options folks seem to have discussions about are:

1. Seats - LWBS or not (+18-ways are substantially heavier than the standard)
2. Leather interior v standard (most go with leather interior for a more premium experience)
3. Manual v PDK (I won't go there)
4. Headlights - Standard, All-black, LED (most discussion seems to balance improved light output/visibility v. aesthetics v. weight)
5. Climate control
6. Wheel v. caliper color
7. Brakes - Iron v PCCB (Cost replacement v. no brake dust + weight savings)

If you're pretty certain about all of the above, your build looks pretty solid and safe overall. No flags as far as I can see.

Sweet configuration!! I'd recommend, not from personal experience but rather what was recommended to me, if you ever plan to take it to the track spend the money & get the fire extinguisher. It's cheap now when built but expensive to add on later. I hope to some day get our car to the track & figured this was cheap insurance to make certain I wasn't rejected, as some tracks & programs require it.

Happy Birthday!!

MOO & FWIW

Nice build. I’ll pass on commenting on the normally debated big options also.

I would drop the navigation as you spec’d Apple CarPlay. Save yourself $2000+ dollars and the maps are always up to date.

I am personally regretting getting the multifunction steering wheel. I used it all the time in my daily driven 718 for answering the phone and skipping through music. I doubt I’ll be doing either in the weekend toy Spyder. I don’t need the heated steering wheel either.

Lastly, I assume you know you’re losing the deviated stitching by going with the leather steering wheel. I also prefer leather but didn’t want to give up the stitching personally.

Congratulations and happy birthday! Look, that car looks so good in GT Silver that the options really don't matter!

QH1 Voice Control $0
9VL BOSE® Surround Sound System $990
9WT Apple CarPlay® incl. Siri® $360
P40 Navigation including Porsche Connect $2,320
I'd get rid of:
XBS Brake Calipers in High Gloss Black $900 (Red calipers break up the silver/black monotony and match the rear reflectors)
748 Power Folding Exterior Mirrors $330 (If you're parking this car in places where the 1/2" matters, you'll have worse things to worry about. Worst case you can fold them manually.)
573 2-Zone Automatic Climate Control $770 (Useless in a convertible. If you want heat, blast heat. If you want cold, blast cold. Temp means nothing.)
P07 Adaptive Sport Seats Plus (18-way) $2,640 (Too heavy. Too much $$$. If the 2-ways fit, get those, or get the LWBS.)
XSH Seat Belts in Silver Grey Porsche $360 (Black will look cleaner over time.)
XNS Steering Column Casing in Leather $470 (Silver stitching will reflect against black gauges.)
ADM Dashboard Trim Package in Leather/Race-Tex $1,610 (Silver stitching will reflect against windshield.)
XLU Sun Visors in Race-Tex $590 (Why? Who looks at sun visors?)
EKG Interior Trim in Carbon Fiber i.c.w. Leather Interior $790 (Free brushed alu, silver, or leather all look better.)
XXD Door-Sill Guards in Carbon Fiber, Illuminated $1,210 (Why?)

Just saved you $10k for what will be the exact same car.. You're welcome.

Congrats!

I’d say keep the automatic climate control. It is useless when the roof is open, but useful when driving with the roof closed. I miss it a bit on my Spyder.

I like the appearance of the silver stitching and seat belts on my car.

I agree with the rest of hf1’s suggestions.

I don't need or want to spend less! I want the car configured they way I want it. It's a second or third car and will be a keeper for at least 10 years, so why not configure it the way I want it?

I agree 100% with your sentiment; I didn’t even share my build for comment...but you did say to please share your thoughts lol.

If you really want to spend some money, do a search for CXX or PTS options for your car. The sky is the limit.

Also, I noticed you didn't get the smoker's package. Many people suggest this free option not necessarily because you smoke but because it provides a lid to cover that open space in the center console and because it provides an additional 12v port which most people use to plug in their battery maintainer. With your car being your second or third car, this might be something you'll want to consider if it's parked for long periods of time.

Secondly, your car looks like a heavy option build. Any reason in particular you didn't get the Burmester option and went with the Bose option?

Lastly, I don't know how you feel about Alcantara/Race-Tex but I'm not really a fan of it in high touch areas. There's a thread/discussion on this topic if you care to search for it but I bring this up because I noticed you spec'd it for the sun visor. I don't know if you have an SO or not but anytime my wife gets in the car, she uses the mirror in the sun visor at least 2 or 3 times. I changed mine to leather because it would bug me to no end after time with "her side" being matted down from her using it over time and getting her hand oils on it and "my side" being in perfect condition because I never use it unless I think I have a booger hanging out or something's in my eye.

I changed my steering wheel to leather for this reason as well. (Didn't want the matted down Alcantara/Race-Tex look and don't want the maintenance as well.)
