PDK or Manual
#32
That would be a first for Porsche....they usually publish conservative numbers and so far all the official info actually places the PDK ahead of the manual....

there’s no way the PDK is slower, especially if the builds of the cars are the same. Builds matter, as motortrend tested the manual versus PDK 991.2 GT3s. The manual was just a hair slower around the same track on the same day with Pobst driving. The PDK car had sofas and iron brakes. Manual had buckets and PCCBs.

My BGTS 4.0 will have PDK. My car will be a daily driver, but I would've ordered a PDK even for weekend-only use. Not because of gear ratios or track times; I just happen to find it significantly more rewarding to drive than the 6MT, and I have had extended seat time in both. Obviously, others feel very differently.
Get the one you prefer, but don't let anyone talk you into thinking that you're less of an enthusiast if you prefer the PDK.

The way I see it - if you like being engaged, and in control, and shifting gears - get the MT. If you just want easiest and fastest lap times - PDK. When I drive PDK - i got bored with paddles real fast, and feel stupid doing it at the same time. Because I know car can do it much better without my input. And car just lets me play, while rolling eyes and always watching, ready to take control when I screwup. Not a good feel. So I go for MT.

For the GT4, Porsche has posted technical specs showing the differences between MT and PDK for gearing and performance.
The differences in gear ratios make sense. Through each gear, PDK has faster acceleration, lower top speed.
And although PDK has a weight penalty, adjustment in ratios (and probably marginally better shift times), the acceleration times for PDK is also improved:
(vs Manual)
0–60 mph: 3.7s (4.2s)
0–100 km/h: 3.9s (4.4s)
0–160 km/h: 8.5s (9.0s)
0–200 km/h: 13.4s (13.8s)
Top speed: 302 km/h (304 km/h)
Documents can be found here:

Three Wheelin'
Country road on a Sunday morning, take your pick, but probably a 6 speed will be more fun and involving.
While at the track, PDK all the way. Faster shifting, doesn't upset the car while changing gears mid corner or under heavy braking, and definitely not going to have an accidental money shift.

Now we all have confirmation what the actual ratios are.
