I work for a Porsche dealer and know there are basically no allocations anywhere.
My SA claims he has buildable allocations. Is he BS'ing?

Seems that way. We know allocations were had in December with April builds, but April builds have been the farthest anyone's been quoted and that's what people were getting quoted in December. I also can't recall seeing anyone post they got an allocation recently. I know I've been next on the list since dec with no allocation yet myself. I don't think they'll end the model before the RS is out either.

I also see all the dealer inventory of GT4s in my country disappeared in the last couple months except for a small handful.

I'm guessing Porsche knows what they're doing and is waiting until the factory isn't so far into the future with production to release more. They probably don't like canceled orders in the official queue like I think tesla dealt with model 3s.

If he gets you a commission number then no ? The allocations are released in batches so we’ll go from none to lots. Your SA may basically be telling you he’s confident the dealership will get enough in the next round, which should be very soon, that their wait list is small or empty and it won’t be a problem as long as Porsche gives them the same amount as last quarter. Which is usually what happens.

I’m not certain allocations are released all at the same time so it’s not inconceivable that some dealers have been told about the next quarter before others …

very skeptical. There’s no reason not to do a full 2021 production run. We haven’t heard anything about a 2022 model year at all, and that may or may not happen. Porsche will make as many 2021 cars as it can, supply chain willing.

Just so folks know, in my PTS thread I've received people reporting 1 April build but didn't mention when delivery would be, 2 May builds with July 2021 deliveries, and 1 June build with July 2021 delivery with PTS none-the-less so if your SA says he has a configurable build, go for it. As long as you get a commission number, then you have a build locked in. If he says he has a "build" but doesn't give you a commission number then he's basically saying I can't get you a build until PAG releases them but until then I'll take your deposit and put you in line so when they're released, I'll call you to come in and confirm your build.

During the second week of January I was able to get an allocation (with confirmed commission number) for a May build for a PDK GT4 here in NorCal for a possible July delivery. Timing is key ! From what the SA said to me one person never got back to him and there were 10 other people inquiring about the allocation the day after I confirmed the order. SA doesn’t know when the next allocation will be available.

Seems like the demand has picked up since the beginning of this year.

presidential elections always put a damper on demand, and after elections things open up irrespective of who won

I bought a new 2020 two weeks ago. MSRP of $127,070. Paid $120,000. Found the car in NorCal and had it shipped up here.

Great deal and congrats!

But from North Cal to Portland... hmmmm I think that might have been an excellent excuse for a road trip! I have made that trip a number of times, always enjoyable.
