Contacted a couple local dealers, both say they have no allocations for a Cayman GTS. Is anyone finding the same reply?

Give it a little time, and in 1Q21 dealers will have lots of allocations....I'm betting (hoping).

 

Put yourself on allocation lists at 2-3 dealers and wait for the emails/calls.

 

A lot depends on the dealer. I just put in an order for a Spyder. My dealer, who I’ve been working with for a few years, wanted my BGTS enough to offer significantly more than a few others I called and insisted they could get me a car. When I delivered the BGTS for a pre-trade (value isn’t going up, needed to move it now) last Friday I was sitting with the SM talking about my order. That was when I found out they didn’t have an allocation but they were still insistent it wasn’t a problem. Their plan was to trade for an allocation and were confident they could make it happen. Apparently due to their history, they have a lot of specialty allocations that they hold back for exactly this situation. I got a call 4 hours later with a completed build sheet with a commission number and a V200 status (1/21/21 delivery). They worked their magic.

Now the GTS may be a different animal but if the dealer is skilled and they have decent allocation they can usually make it happen. And I agree, GTS allocations should open up in Q1.

 

I stopped in this week to see how long the list was for a Cayman GTS and get in line to start the process. Good timing as they had just received their new allocations. I had a choice of a GTS 4.0 or Spyder allocation, with a delivery in early 2021. The Boxster 4.0 was 6 months out for an allocation. I took 48 hours to complete my build and returned with my $5k deposit. I completed my build for the GTS, but realized how special the Spyder would be, so soft top it is! My build locks next week and scheduled for delivery in mid-March.

Allocations are out there! Just need to call around...and get lucky!

 

The luck is important...I tried calling around with no luck, then all of a sudden a local dealer called me to say that although I was third on the list, he had an allocation come in this week and the other guys dropped out, so the slot is mine if I want it.

 

I confirmed a early Dec build for a Cayman GTS 4.0 last week in the Atlanta area.

 

there's 3 GT4 on the lot, and GTS 4.0 allocation ready to go for me when I had asked. I just walked in. Got myself some clear side markers, full xpel treatment on the vehicle and other goodies.
