GTS 4.0 - tune away from GT4 power/redline?

The engine seems like it’s the same, however the suspension/etc are going to be very different.

Has anyone come upon any comparison write-ups or reviews between the two?

Some good points. While I appreciate the look of the GT4 wing I'm getting a bit too old for that. Without the race track trappings I wonder if the GTS has the potential of being an even better daily driver?

Isn’t that the point of a GTS? GT4 was never meant to be a better daily driver than the GTS and the GTS was never intended to be a better track/canyon carver than a GT4. They both have their priorities and place in the Porsche model construct.

As for whether a GTS or Spyder/GT4 is a better backroads carver, the jury is still out on that one too. Spyder/GT4 may shine on smooth roads (on which the GTS would be excellent as well) but the GTS may be the winner on less than perfect backroads like we have here in the NE. The GTS may offer a wider range of acceptable pavement quality than the Spyder/GT4. I toggle the PASM on my 987 Boxster S all the time depending on the road surface.

This. And to the OP, *if* there is an actual difference of 20 hp, I doubt you would be able to tell the difference in the real world, and certainly not enough of a difference to risk voiding the warranty IMO.

My hunch is that a GTS dyno graph would look exactly the same as Spyder/GT4's. The 20hp diff is probably just marketing. There was a YT video linked here of a GTS 4.0 out-pulling a GT4 in a drag race. When a "414hp" 718 GT4 dyno graph ends up higher than a "475hp" 991.1 GT3 graph at all rpm in the Dundon thread, the conclusion is that Porsche HP ratings are in large part driven by marketing.

My old AMG GT S wasn’t very rough road friendly, but the Spyder is, even in the stiffer suspension mode.

In s straight line the gts 4.0’s are just as fast if not slightly faster than their GT counterparts. Because they weigh less, have much smaller brakes and tires, less aero. Doesnt need a tune to “match” the GT variants, but a tune to say 435 hp would make them noticeably faster. However on curves that extra hp wouldnt matter. Its a completely different product and ethos. And at the end of the day the main reasons to get the gts models is for daily use and more street friendliness. They are still very expensive 718s
