There are multiple ways to do it. You can pour in just shy of the recommend oil change refill callout. Go run the car until the oil is up to temperature then park it so that the DME will provide the information to the dash and adjust as needed.

You can use a scan tool capable of reading the sensor in real time, check it before you empty the pan and record the value. Change the oil and refill to that value. A tool capable of a real time reading may not be economically viable to some. You would still need a tool to reset the service interval anyway however. Those capable of that aren't terribly exspensive.

That is the oil I use in my ZL1 for the street. It is not the correct oil for the 718 GT4.

In europe at least, “ESP” and “ESP X3” are two different types.

They are indeed different, as Mobil 1 tech support will confirm. Only the “X3” version is C40 approved.

Crap....guess I’ll have to cancel my order My guess is that with our cars not really having a GPF, we dont really need the C40

Check out this thread I started about a month ago. I have yet to get a straight answer on this.

So have we reached a conclusion that the old spec of A40 has now been superseded by C40... if so I need to return a couple of jugs of 0W-40 A40!

Applications

Mobil 1 ESP X3 0W-40 is recommended for high-performance engines requiring GPFs (gasoline particulate filters).

• Mobil 1 ESP X3 0W-40 can only be used in the vehicles for which it is approved. It is not backward compatible with vehicle engines requiring an A40, C30 or C20 . ***

*** Always consult the owner's manual of the vehicle for the manufacturer's recommended viscosity grade and specifications

I read 7.5L online which was a starting point for me but after topping off in 300ml increments, I was able to get closer to 8.5L in there. I hate how there is no dipstick. I had to go drive the car and measure it via the computer. BMW has the same system but when I added 6.5L, the green bar was exactly at the top. I wonder how accurate the reading is....
