Default forged wheels

One of the things that I'm surprised the GT4/Spyder don't come with are forged wheels. The wheels that come with, look fantastic but they would even be better if they were forged. Considering how much larger they are over the regular 718 variants and how much larger the steel brakes are, offering forged wheels would have been a nice way to offset the increased unsprung weight.

Do you plan on swapping out your wheels for forged wheels and if so, which one?

Dude you’ve been a member here for a month and this is your 16th thread. Why don’t you just put all of your questions into one thread?

This from a guy with 9275 posts in 5 years and 2 months. Can't a guy be excited without being dragged through the mud? As bad as the Bimmer forums are, I've never seen anybody get blasted for the number of posts before.

So getting back to the topic at hand, I know HRE are quite popular for aftermarket but they sure are expensive and I've seen a lot of advertisements for Champion Motorsport wheels. Not sure how much they cost or how they compare to HRE but they seem expensive as well.

Take a look at Forgeline. I'm a big fan. Have them on S2000; totally satisfied. Quality is awesome.

This thought had cross my mind. I sold an awesome set of HRE 540s with my '17 M3 this year and was curious if anything people would put on the Spyder or GT4. I really like the stock wheels however as far as tracking the car at COTA I've also debated about a wheel/tire combo just for that purpose as well.

The problems is that it’s beginning to seem like everyone has them.

If you’re willing to change wheel size, say 19” a few other options become available.

I dream of forged magnesium alloy wheels. BBS make them, but in centrelock only. A company in Latvia makes forged Mg alloy wheels to order (presumably also in the GT4 / Spyder's stock size of 8.5Jx20 ET61, 11Jx20 ET50, PCD 5x130). I don't know if 19 inch wheels would clear the PCCBs. I look forward to reports of successful fitment of Al or Mg forged wheels (and pictures, of course), including manufacturer, dimensions, tyres and brake type.

Asking about wheels and which flavor one likes is like a half brained person (human or monkey) asking what the other brain side thinks by regurgitating questions over and over. Is that what bimmer forums do?.

A 718 isn't going to come with forged wheels from the factory, most buyers don't care and it'll add cost.

Some good recommendations here already. Really depends on your use then it's quality, design, price.

I don't have forged wheels, so can't comment on personal experience. I have looked into HRE, BBS, Forgeline, much positives about all.

I had a set of Forgeline GS1R and was really impressed by weight and quality. Not considering them in the short term since I will get car late in summer but might be an option next track season.

BBS or HRE for bling. Forgelines best bang for buck on forged wheels.

I would love a set of forged rims for the track tires. Then put P4S's or PSS's on the stock rim.

Thoughts about OZ's forged rims?

This is the way to go, got the 2 wheel setup on my GTS but they are OZ 19's and cast for track, they work great but Tire Rack has a forged option for the GT4 spec for only a few bucks more. Anyone had experience of these? https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/bran...NE+Competition
