The Official Gentian Blue Color Thread
#31
Yeah I paid $900 extra (crazy!) to get good old black; the standard caliper color in the old days. I have red calipers on my current car, but I like the Spyder wheels so much that I didn't want the visual distraction. I'm probably a bit atypical on the interior. I started to go with leather / silver stitching, but I really didn't care for the lower dash in alcantara and so stuck with the standard interior. I didn't feel the need for the bucket seats either, so I got the "sofas" as they call them. I know for a fact they're comfortable. Bonus is that they are heated, as is the steering wheel (which I opted in leather BTW). My favorites drives are top down, brisk weather and that factored into these decisions. In addition to engine noises, I'm also a music junkie, so CarPlay and Burmester (my main splurge and no I'm not worried about car / road noises negating it) rounded out the list. I'm anti OEM navigation.

Thank you! I think I would have spec'd y Spyder the same way if I went Gentian Blue. I'm also looking at White or GT Silver with a Classic Spyder. I may even go for Carmine red if I get a allocation. What are you reasons for going Gentian Blue sir?

Blue just looked good on this car, to my eyes. I probably won't do XPEL. Ceramic unlikely too. Just wax. My 981 (again blue - Sapphire) has 28K miles over 6 years, and yeah it has a few small rock chips and such. But it still looks great and even 6 feet away you don't notice those. I like to take good care of things, but ultimately I buy them to enjoy, not to create new worries.

Well I wish I could tell you how I liked it. It arrived Saturday but the dealer hasn’t finished prep yet. They’re a smallish dealer and they received 2 Spyders, 1 GT4, and 3 Taycans that day. Plus I asked them to disconnect / plug the PSE vacuum lines. Tomorrow’s the day!

Here it is. Only change I've done so far was replace the orange side markers for clear ones!
And added XPEL PPF on the full front, rockers, stone guards and back of the rear wheel.

car looks amazing, I have a couple of questions, firstly I assume those are the satin platinum wheels, secondly about the color, is it me or does it change shade depending upon the lighting, I looked at a 911 in GBM yesterday (not in direct sunlight) and it looked very dark and dull!

Yes it changes colours depending on light - that is why I like it and specced it.

Did you spec yellow accents on inside as well?
