New 718 GT4's For Sale

That explains a lot why almost every reviewer seems to love the sound from the driver's seat. Here's another example of what I think is evidence that the car sounds epic stock. Skip to :56 to avoid the moronic intro.

Three Wheelin'
You probably could've tried a few mods to improve the sound. But, still, it's a big unknown how it would sound after all that. And, still may not be able to match your past 981 gen. But, would have been worth the shot.
I saw a video of 992 GT3 testing on the 'ring. It sounded ............ bad, as compared to 991.2 gen!! At WOT, it was super lame! I'm beginning to realize that a new Porsche sports car is past it, in terms of aural pleasures, to me! You will be very happy with a 981 Spyder PTS or not!

Honestly, I'd be happy that you're able to pay just MSRP compared to other Porsche GT cars

In case anyone is interested, Porsche Monterey appears to have a fairly high spec GT4 ($132k MSRP) on the ground for immediate purchase. A bit of an odd looking build (Guards red with Arum wheels and black PPCBs), but there's someone for every color combo. My guess is that this is a customer car that wasn't purchased, as it's not exactly the typical 'floor' type of build.
