Any word on Spyder and GT4 PDK? When is the earliest to place an order for a PDK version?

Was going to be 36th week of 2020. Likely delayed now.

Just a word on PDK...

While I’m proudly waiting for a manual Spyder, I just realized today that the PDK Spyder test mules that are running in the Nurburgring these days have the side air scoops vents fitted, as the Gt4.
Wondering why.....
I don’t think that PDK needs extra cooling.
Maybe some engine tweak is already coming too?
Or customers cars are running too hot with the new 4.0?
strange thing...

Side scoops would be an awesome change for the better for me. Also hides more of the black plastic pieces on the car.

Actually, PDK does require additional cooling. Particularly in a mid-engine chassis.
Ask anyone who tracks PDK Cayman R or GT4 ClubSport.
A PDK box is also absurdly expensive out of warranty.

I like your point...I tracked a lot my Boxster GTS PDK without any problem to the gearbox...also my friend with a 3.8 swap on his Cayman...but cooler is better of course.
Maybe the 4.0 is particularly hot too.

I did track a R with PDK. But the deal was the LSD was in the same housing with the PDK only separated by a thin piece of sheet metal. The heat from the LSD transferred over onto the PDK fluid causing part of the issue. One remedy was to overfill the PDK and to add an extra LSD cooler. That helped a little bit. But at high OATS, 90+, or high altitudes it only delayed the red screen of death, not eliminate it. Porsche would never admit to this issue even so at the beginning they hyped the track prowess of the R. With the 981 they fixed it.

Wow very interesting to know!
Yes, my 981 did 20000 km on track, mostly Nurburgring, without gearbox issues

Glad you enjoyed it. I’m not a PDK guy but the car does sound good in this video.
