Default Strut tower issue from 981 - resolved on 718?

Are there any definitive answers that indicate that the 718 Spyder / GT4 strut towers have been redesigned compared to the 981 GT4?

I noticed that there was a similar posting a few months back that for some reason is closed with no responses ....

not sure if the root-cause has been clarified. it sounds like we all assuming it's design related, but actually it could be other factors, like materials or manufacturing (which we barely can know outside of Porsche operation), user abuse (which we never will know as they would never admitted it), or design (which can identified by analyzing the overall struts of 718 GT4/Spyder or 991.2 GT3)

Judging by this 718 Clubsport at Silverstone last weekend I'd say it is the same.

..and my road version looks the same also (obviously without the Motorsport pressed steel part)

I took a picture of the US spec car at the LA auto show. Sure looks the same to me.
Hopefully Porsche changed something for the 718. Maybe material or shock travel/valving...

Thanks for the info.

I’m honestly surprised that there doesn’t seem to be a lot of concern among 718 GT4 / Spyder owners, at least in this forum, about the 981 GT4 issue continuing into the 718.

Porsche is wierd sometimes... They dont seems to admit design flaws.
The small plastic triangle at the front of side windows creating wind buffeting (when windows were opened) was never fixed since the first 991...
I guess its the same with this issue, they just dont want to admit

They can't admit a design flaw in a car sold in the US, without a class action suit filed against PCNA. They'd prefer to fight individual owners in court instead of a group. So deny, deny, deny is their modus operandi.

So how big an issue is this really? Prevalence, cost, actual danger, etc?

The reports I have seen are around $20k. I think I may have seen someone get it covered by their comprehensive insurance. It was months ago, probably 6-8 months ago that I was researching this, so I would look into it more if you are concerned.

Tried to read what I thought was the main one and it was a super long thread (as one would expect). I've heard of the issue but wasn't really considering a 981gt4 at the time. Years have passed since then and like I said I did try to skim it but I'm not reading volumes on it just to find a few simple well established (albeit buried in the minutiae) answers that could be summarized in a post shorter than yours and mine put together.

Each thread has the capability to be searched. Just look in the upper RH corner. Your search will be limited to that thread only.

we can't tell the differences by just looking at those struts...
problem could have been material at suppliers, manufacturing process, user abuse (possibility, who knows). For the first two factors, unless someone from Porsche operation team, we will never know even if something has been refined or corrected.
