PDK
There are shops in LA that can repair depending what failed. But you're potentially better off swapping in a used one from a salvage yard honestly though. Unless you're just looking at a mechatronics failure or valve body rebuilt, its going to be well north of what a used one should cost, and it's not like these transmissions are miled out used, or unreliable.

Think there is a thread in the 981 section that has a bunch of shops listed.
Search around.
Most of the issues are readily replaceable servo components. Find a shop that is knowledgeable before replacement.

Yes, vital to have it diagnosed by a shop familiar with it. Misdiagnosis by a shop not familiar with something has a good chance of happening.
Unless it's catastrophic mechanical failure, odds are it's likely nothing to do with the internals requiring a rebuild as these are very good transmissions. I'm at a VAG shop and its really really rare to have transmission issues with DSGs or PDKs. I haven't seen a pdk failure, and have only seen one 7 speed dsg failure in the last year and maybe 1 6 speed dsg. They do occasionally have issues, but if I try to remember every transmission issue in the last year I'd say it's most commonly just the mechatronics unit which controls the shifting of the transmission.

Even though you have a 982, the 981 forum has more experience so post up there.
Metal in the fluid sounds catastrophic, but for sure get a 2nd opinion

All transmissions will have metal in the fluid with age, but it depends how much. (How did they find metal? Did they take pictures? PDK's have a pan filter) Minor contaminants might be fine. If it looks like someone glitter bombed it or chunks are found ya, that's a problem. I'm often skeptical of dealer diagnoses on big ticket items as:
1) they may not be aware of or allowed to sell cheaper alternative solutions.
2) The way dealerships work is they may not have spent enough time diagnosing and jumped to conclusions.
Many a dealer diagnosis that called for an engine replacement that I've personally dealt with for example did not actually need an engine replaced. I'd strongly recommend spending a few hundred on a second opinion before you drop 15k+.

Flywheel and clutch pack are items that can go with hard use. I'm not sure if they would cause metal in the clutch fluid. They can be replaced - I'm in the midst of this right now.
I second the reference to the 981 thread and to avoid the dealer whose only rec will be to plunk in a whole new transmission.

Not sure if this will be pertinent to your issue. I had a complete PDK failure in my Macan a few years back. The car was 2 years out of warranty. The bill was 24K. My sales manager went to bat for me with Porsche NA. They replaced the transmission without charge. PDK failures are a bad look for Porsche (and infrequent).
