Time From Order Placement to Receipt
#2
Looks like 5 is the minimum, but there are A LOT of possible delays, so dealers are playing it safe. That's a reasonable time frame to give to customers. I think 2025 production is wrapping up earlier than usual, since it's the last year, so if you want one, better order asap. Just scrutinize your order VERY carefully. They screwed it up for me, and had to pass on 'my' car, which should arrive soon. So check and re-check your build sheet. I had a lot of options, so it's easier to miss something. And don't assume anything, like I did. For instance, the configurator forced me to choose the 'GT steering wheel' when choosing the premium package, so I assumed it'd be included, even though it wasn't on the build sheet. But it wasn't; it's actually a separate charge, so it has to be specified. Another option not included was power steering column, which was on my build, but SA missed it, and so did I. I noticed those missing options once my car entered production, so it was too late to change anything. So ordered a '25 in El Paso, where I live, since they accepted MSRP this time. Good luck.

You don’t really “order” one.
The dealer gets a set number of allocations. Usually for non GT cars this is on a quarterly basis. The dealer then decides who gets those allocations.
Each allocation received has a specific build date associated with it.
Once you have a confirmed allocation, then you’ll also have the build date and all projected dates to delivery. That all will define how long.
The question to ask the dealer is when will they receive more allocations AND where are you on the allocation wait list.
They know this info.
If they put in an Order Demand, be aware that’s not a car and may never turn into a car.
If you want one, call around and get one. They’re available…lots of dealers out there.
Ask a broker. Probably get an allocation in short order for a small fee
Good luck

OBTW, didn’t catch this was Austin.
Recommend you try elsewhere…anywhere really.

Perhaps my viewpoint is skewed based on the older dealership, which was not good.
Think they’re under new management and new location(s).
Talking to them about an RS year and half ago was horrible…probably worst of 120 dealers I contacted.
Occasionally posts on here still reflect a negative trend. My buds up there don’t seem to like them and buy their cars elsewhere.
Anyway, at the end of the day if they get you an allocation at a price you are comfortable with…then what does it matter
My main point is shop around, lots of dealers. I got my RS from Plano, but had other offers close elsewhere.
San Antonio and Austin were outliers. Of course RS different that non GT cars.

Everyone is going to have a slightly different delivery time. For me i received my allocation in Feb but it didnt lock until May. Then 2 weeks later it was in production and ended second week of June. Thought i'd be getting my car soon, but nope, car sat at Emden Port for a month before jumping on a ship July 20th. It then decided to take the long way to California by taking the Magellan Straight and not the Panama Canal, and it had 3 stops before Benicia Port which meant a 50 day trip. I took delivery August 23rd. So if you count it from when i got the allocation, we're looking at around a 6 month delivery timeframe for me. In comparison, someone on here recieved their allocation in May, locked in June, finished end of June, was on a ship and delivered last week of July over on the east coast. So for them it was about a 3-4 month turn around depending where you start counting.

One year after allocation? That doesn't sound right. When was your freeze date? Hey guys, rather than using that highly subjective word, please use FREEZE DATE as the starting date instead. That's when you actually have an allocation, and everybody's times will be comparable.

I emailed them today asking for an allocation for a Boxster S in the first quarter of next year... we'll see how it goes.
FYI, They have a couple of changeable base allocations available right now for November/December delivery for anyone that may be interested.

There's no way it'd be a November delivery, and doubt it'd be December either, as an FYI. My allocation locked over a month ago, and it hasn't even start production yet. I'll be lucky to see my car in November. TYD says mid February 2025, so it'd consider myself lucky if it arrives before the end of the year. Realistic delivery time window from freeze date to delivery date, is between 4 to 6 months.
