Better than I thought it would be. Appreciate it!

Thanks for illustrating our wheel clearance, and for your support of our product!

When we designed our 372mm systems, they were a clean sheet design and we explicitly chose that disc size to fit comfortably inside 18" wheels with breathing room to spare. For a long time other brake kit manufacturers were offering 355x32mm or 380x36mm discs. AP Racing was making some kits with a 378mm disc. We looked at 18" wheels on various types of cars and settled on the 372x34mm as our ideal size for wheel clearance, required thermal capacity, etc. Having gravel or debris caught between the caliper and wheel barrel is fairly rare with our 372mm setups under 18" wheels. That just hasn't been a problem for us.

Default Last Update of the Season :(

Couple of quick updates:

1. The DBJ wing is legit. Carrying about 5mph more down the front straight at my local track (Summit Point). I do need to adjust the AOA a little bit as I was a bit too aggressive in my initial reduction of AOA from the stock GT4 wing so that top speed will come down maybe a mile or two, but overall very happy with the results.

2. I've always had uneven wear on the front pads (inside to outside), makes sense as the inside isn't getting as much airflow, but a few months ago I installed the brake guides they use on the MR cars and it has really improved the evenness of the wear, really happy with the results. It basically directs the airflow through the radiators to the back of the rotors. Yes, it's hot-ish air, but hot-ish is better than no air.

Air guide

Even wear !

Back on track 11/3 and 11/4 with Metro NY. They run a great event, if any of y'all are in VA, WV, Eastern PA, NJ, or NY area come out and say hi and get loads of track time! Not affiliated with them, it's just a great event to close out the track season (at least my track season).

Great find on the extra brake air guide! Yes, part number please. Consider the air going through the radiators is probably in the 120f-180f range. Still much much cooler than the brake rotors which can hit 1000f.

I had an evo back in the day with the factory air guide that only got air to the inside pad. Outside pad had double the wear rate.

Matt, are these a direct fit for all 718’s ? Do they they have to be drilled in place?

Good question, I should have clarified. The two areas in red are a direct fit, remember I have the GT4 bumper and fenders though, so I'm not certain if it's a direct fit for all 718s. The area in blue, there is an arm that goes back and needs to be drilled.

^^^^^ Thanks for clarifying, I am still waiting to get my GT4 bumper back from the paint shop. I have not opted for the the GT4 fender liners yet… we will see how the installation goes. Thanks for the information and update.

I just poked around on my T and it does NOT appear to have the proper mounting provisions circled in red. So it seems one would need the GT4 fender liners too.

Default 18in Wheel & Tire Dimensions?

Would you be able to share your wheel and tire dimensions? I'm considering downsizing for my 718 for track use.

Sure. I have a 18" and 19" setup.

The 18s are 18x9+46 in the front and 18x10.5+44
The 19s are 19x9+50 in the front and 19x10.5+44, I've also run a 19x11 in the rear, but you need lots of camber.

Tires are complicated. I run a lot of different tires but in general:
18s: 255/35 or 265/35 in the front and 295/35 in the rear.
19s: 255/35 or 265/35 in the front and 285/35 or 295/35 in the rear. People run the 305/30, but I'd have to get the car realigned to do that since the sidewall height is so different. And I don't want to change my current rake.

A few notes, I like to run the 295 with an 11" wheel and I prefer to run the 265 with a 9.5" wheel. This is doable on a 19" (albeit with a LOT of camber), but isn't really doable on the 18". I'm sure you are curious why I have a set of 18s that are so close to the 19s. Well, two reasons. 1) tire cost 2) much more availability for semi slicks/slicks on 18s. You can run a Hankook 250-640-18 (F) and 280-660-18(R) or a Pirelli 265-645-18 (F) and 305-660-18 (R).

Hopefully this helps!
