Maybe your roads but not mine. If the only car left to buy is a 2.5 go for it; however, if one can find a 4.0 that should be the first choice and if you don't you will always be thinking about it, especially after posting here, or at the very least reading my post!

Bigger is always better . Nobody ever bought the 4.0 and wished they went with a 2.5.

I can put my foot in it for more than a few seconds, have just as much fun, and not have to worry about being arrested around the next curve.
Just my experience. One is not better than the other, they are both awesome! I am very comfortable with my choice, I don't need to put anyone else down for his or her choice.

Sorry to have to say the obvious but the 4.0 is better, and I have never, ever, ever thought my Spyder was a track car, or should it be. Ask anyone in this thread if they feel a 2.5 would be better in their car than the 4.0 in it now: https://mail.google.com/mail/u/0/?ta...HZKxvSLVzvcdLg

From what I have found 2018, 2019 GTS under 20,000 miles I have found are running $80-$95,000 from what I was reading. They were supposedly not selling well and were being sold for a loss which does not seem to be the case anymore. Lol.

I actually went through the same "what 718 to get" headache last month. Primary use is a track car. Ended up buying a CPO 2019 GTS (2.5), as it looked like the most compelling price/performance/actually-get-it combo. From all the reading I did the 4.0 is a bit "better" in some ways, but you can get an excellent 2.5 in the 80s, or sometimes less, while the 4.0 is substantially more. If you want to buy new you have the ADM mess, and allocation timelines, and the cost starts getting substantially higher than a 2.5 for honestly basically the same car? While some really appreciate the engine, if you don't, it is a huge premium for the same thing. I did worry about extra depreciation, but if you are saving 20-40k on the initial purchase it takes a lot of extra depreciation to make that a loss.
I did originally really want a GT4, and if i could buy at MSRP absolutely would have done that, but it is discontinued, used market is very thin, notable markups, and I had a constraint of "if it is a GT4 I'm getting PDK and buckets for the track".. along with wanting a non black/white/grey/silver color. That left a GT4 at both hard to find and likely close to double a GTS 2.5 for much less than double the enjoyment. GT4 RS at MSRP also likely a good deal... but with 80-100k ADM not something I'm willing to deal with. (Also a 300k car is something to be much more nervous about at the track / parking / etc...)
I did also consider a T, which look really cool - but those were selling at roughly the same prices as a GTS! No way that is justifiable except for collector-inclined types who appreciate the novelty and rarity.

I got a clean Carfax 20k mile 2018 CGTS with 105k MSRP for 75k a few months ago. From a (3rd party) dealer too, not private party. They're out there!

That's why Wendy's makes hamburgers 256 different ways. There is no single "right" answer. It is a matter of personal preference. They are all wonderful. Enjoy!
