Default Clutch Stiffness

Hi guys, quick question.. how stiff is the clutch in the new GTS 4.0 models ? I have a 992 with a 7MT and the clutch is perfect, smooth no issue with daily driving at all. How do you compare the clutch on the new Caymans/Boxsters ? thanks!!

Not to state the obvious, but it's definitely best if you go and drive one. I think it was you who asked how loud it was with the top up too... make the trip to go drive one, you'll benefit from it tremendously.

That said, I haven't driven a GTS 4.0 manual (mine is PDK), but I've driven a 981 and 718 2.0T, as well as a 991.2. All of the clutches were relatively similar, if not the same. If anything, the 718 was the best. Porsche knows what they're doing.

I have a 22 992 GTS and a 20 Spyder. The clutch on the Spyder is a bit stiffer, but not excessively so. The overall feel, linearity, and engagement of the clutch is better on the Spyder. And the 6-speed shifter of the Spyder is significantly better than the 7-speed. If you like the clutch/shifter interaction on your 992 (it is nice), I think you'll absolutely love it in the 718 4.0. The only "problem" with the 718 shifter/clutch it is that you'll like them less in your 992 less after you experience them in the 718.

I also have a feeling I will like the 718 more after watching the videos. Reason I ask is my brother has a knee issue sometimes and if it will be to hard on him it’s not good. So was curious to see what people thought. Thanks!!

Whatever you do, don't get a 981 then! The clutch was much heavier on that car...my 718 is very light by comparison. I have a 2.0 T, but I've driven a GTS 4.0 and it felt the same.

Have both cars and there is a serious difference in clutch pedal stiffness. Get out of the 992 and jump into the 718 and it is WOW. You get used to it quickly, but there is a dramatic difference.
