Identifying large black plug behind rear rotor
Anyone know what this is? It's not showing in parts diagrams, as far as I could tell:

It's the parking brake motor.
Although the Cayman has rear disk brakes, the parking brake is a drum brake that resides inside the rotor. If you take the rotor off you'll see the drum brake in the middle of the hub. That piece you have pictured is the motor you hear when you set the parking brake.

Yep, totally safe. Use a tiny flat head to lift the clip and then wiggle it off. Just make sure the parking brake is in the OFF position before you do it otherwise you won't be able to get the rotor off the hub.
