Default Flat

I’ve had 2 981s and now a 982 GTS 4.0. The 981s had a pump and a fix a flat cartridge. I used them a couple of times and they were fine. Yesterday I had a flat in a remote location in the 982 GTS. No worries, I’ll pull out the pump and the fox a flat cartridge and I’ll be on my way. Best I can tell, there is no fix a flat cartridge in the 982. I tried off the shelf fix a flat from a gas station. It failed but the hole was at the top. Should have moved the car to get the hole at the bottom of the tire. I bought a tire plug kit and it solved the problem. I’ve never used a tire plug kit before. In my case it was amazing. I’ll carry a couple of them in every car going forward as well as a bottle of slime.

My 2021 718 has a air pump and can of fix a flat goo.

Check your OM, I would be surprised if you didn’t have similar.

It’s only good for minor leak downs while away from home.

Thank you.

I did check “tires” in the manual and it made no mention of it in that section. I knew the pump was under the cowling and my recollection was that the can of goo lived there also. I was wrong. Found it in the removable panel on the passenger side of the frunk.

I’ll be packing a can of slime and a couple of plug kits in the future.

Try to avoid the goo if you can plug it. Goo is a nightmare when you go to get your tire properly patched up or replaced. Also make sure to tell your tire guy you used goo so they're ready to deal with the mess!

I keep a Ryobi pump and a plug kit in the trunk for these occasions. Never use the goo and the Ryobi pump works great.

Good to hear of the successful plug repair. I carry an ARB tire repair kit and heavy duty air pump on all my vehicles.
