I use my car's native Nav only for a map display, not for routing or directions. I use CarPlay for that, far superior.

My 2018 718 Base has carplay but I needed android auto, I followed directions off of the 718forum and now my car has carplay, android auto and factory navigation. Very simple process and works great!

Apple carplay was a $360 option on my 22 Spyder. I used a wireless dongle for a few weeks then returned it. Like it better wired so I could use a magnetic mount for my phone to run my Escort Live app on my phone and Waze on my headunit.

Thanks, now it makes perfect sense. Mine did not come with the $360 option. Does anyone know how much it would cost to add it? I doubt it's only $360!

I have a '22 GTS and it does have it, and I didn't pay for it. I wonder if it has anything to do with me being in Canada and perhaps Porsche Canada has a different spec on what comes with a GTS than Porsche USA does. I used to work for car companies and experienced that all the time. They don't even use the same trim levels sometimes... For example, Honda Ridgeline trim levels in Canada are Sport, EX-L, Touring and Black Edition. In the US they are RT, RTL, etc.

The only ones where CarPlay was an option are the GT4 and Spyder. CarPlay comes standard on other models.

I think I paid $2300 to have the Porsche dealer add it to my 2018 base Cayman. Most of the cost is about 8 hrs labor.

Car Play, for me, is a fundamental item in all of my cars. My 2018 "S" was not spec'd with it, so I used the services of PorschePlay.com...
Simple and cheap -- Worked like a charm.
