The Final Model Year for 718 ICE

Your theory they'll be part of the 'cayman/boxster/718 family' makes the most sense to me. I can't see them cannibalizing an already low production car's sales (718s don't sell huge numbers) by doubling up thier R&D cost developing two cars when odds are they sell roughly the same amount of units total. I could see them tweaking an old chassis for pennies on the dollar with a slight update and continuing it on sidebyside with the new 'cayman/boxster', much like dodge is doing with the classic ram and the new ram.

They’ll dump the ICE 718 to expand production of the 911 line at Zuff.

The Taycan is not assembled on the same line - or even the dame building - as the 992 and 718. Assuming that an EV “718” would be manufactured on the 992 line is just that… along with the assumption that a slightly-updated 718 would be hosted on the same platform as the EV “718.” Occam’s Razor for both available simultaneously is that the current 982 platform carries on on the ICE sports car line and that the EV on the VAG mid-sized EV platform is constructed on a different lines.
