Not sure about the pricing you guys are throwing around, but I paid roughly $70k US at MSRP for a T. My options were simply: Bose, Entry & Drive, and Black Leather Interior. As far as long term values are concerned, who knows? But historically for Porsche, special edition T models, club sports etc, have done quite well - even surpassing originally more expensive models in long term re-sale.

The T also has some things going for it performance wise. All things being equal, will win against all the other models in an autocross and small to medium figure 8 tracks. Cannot be beat 0-60km/hours and in braking. It's a cool car.

Are you implying the 718 T is a Special Edition? I’m pretty sure it’s just a trim level like base or S…

Yes in the sense that they are rare(r) trim levels, and have not been offered throughout the lifetime of the model. Anyhow, it's a moot point since any "special edition" is just a play on trim levels.

My girlfriend had a 2017 718 base Cayman. Great car, low spec, ordered her way. MSRP was $65k approximately. The car was totalled in January 2021 so I contacted Roman at Porsche Atlanta Perimeter to see where they were with allocations. They had an allocation available for June delivery for a base/T/S build. She explored the configurator and compared builds and build prices once the cars were optioned. No doubt she could have saved money getting another base car or gotten more performance out of an S. Ultimately she landed on the T.

For her she got the things she wanted such as sport suspension, slightly lower ride height, sport exhaust, and she could get the T specific items like the interior, mirror caps, badging. Those brought some uniqueness that she really appreciates on the car. The extra HP would have been lost on her.

Car was delivered June 1 2021. Whether it's the ongoing tweaks Porsche makes or it's the T package, this car is considerably better than her 2017. It's just an extremely good sports car that you can drive everyday and has just enough variation to feel special.

I don't care about resale value, depreciation, appreciation, or rarity because that's not why it was purchased.

I think the letter T just jumped the shark at Porsche. There is a Macan T now :/

Not relevant to this discussion. There is a thread discussing the Macan T, the introduction of which changes nothing about the Cayman T.

One of the great things that people often overlook on the Cayman T is the manual gear box from the GT4. Was the decider for me. Exceptional gear box.

No one likes a self appointed hall monitor. Try to be more positive or take it to PMs.

The linkage in a GT gearbox is not the same. Whether this carries over onto the GT shifter of the T is unknown to me.
