Default Name this wheel...

Let's play: Name That Wheel:

My car was produced and pictures released from the factory this week. I love it. I especially love the all satin black 20" Carrera Sport Wheels. Only, AFAIK, Porsche doesn't produce an all satin black 20" Carrera Sport wheel! On any car.

So, is this a brand new, mid-year change in wheel design, or did I somehow get a total anomaly? I tried searching every other model for these rims and I can't find them. Is this strange or what? (I sure hope I don't trash a rim on a pothole on this one-off rims! lol)

Here's a side-by-side pic:

What did you order? What’s on your build code submitted? These look like satin platinum.

I ordered Satin Black 20" Carrera Sports, which is pictured on the right on my first picture. It's got that brushed aluminum outline. My SA confirmed (and TYD shows) the correct build codes. Satin Platinum is not black. My picture is clearly black. I thought that too, but they are not platinum to my eye.

Yeah, no issues in the order. Maybe they are temps due to supply chain issues? I thought maybe they had a covering on them to protect them, but don’t see that. Well, you will get what you ordered one way or the other.

…or the configurator representation is wrong. Strange.

What's crazy is that I actually asked my SA about doing exactly this, painting the entire rim satin black. I checked with him and he has no idea why they are this way. But I love them! I don't think they are temps as they look like finished wheels.

Check out this T configuration. Maybe the 4.0 configurator is a misrepresentation.

What next pic are you referring to? I assume the next pic will be taken by me.

My friend just got his GTS 4.0 with the same rims as I'm supposed to have, so I know they are supposed to have the brushed aluminum outline. These are clearly all black, not gray or Platinum. I'm excited, I like them.

The rims you ordered I really liked on 991s in person and thought pictures and the configurator didn't do them justice but what you ended up with is much better. Hopefully they show up like that and don't 'fix the glitch'.

Personally I like the wheels you thought you were getting, and would be mega upset they screwed up. However it's good you like them all black. Better than having to argue with the dealer to get this corrected. Win all the way around.

Wait, these rims were on the 991's? Were they ever painted all satin black?

That's my fear right now! shhhh! (I was actually considering powder coating them to this all black satin finish.)

It is a rare occasion for Porsche to screw up an order but it does happen. I ordered the Black leather trim in my car and they added it around the climate control panel, which was not supposed to happen but I was happy it did. Make sure you question the wheels when the car arrives since even though you like the wheels if you tell the dealer you are upset about them you may get some swag for accepting them. I
