Default Side Intake Rock Chip Issues?

Just curious, any real issue with rock chips around the side intake area?

It looks like the standard black intake is black plastic. I'm thinking about getting the painted intake piece, but wonder if the area is prone to rock chips. Wrapping it with Xpel looks a little complicated. The surrounding fender area shouldn't be much of an issue.

Thanks!

I have a chip in the leading edge of the scoop, despite an Xpel coating. Only 6,000 miles on the odometer, but seven track days, too. I can't say as I've noticed any damage to the standard black interior of the intake.

Do you have a Spyder? I had GT4 side scoops but on my Spyder and PPF applied after they were painted. My installer said they were a little challenging but I think it was a good idea; however, I just had the outside done.

Hi Bob!

How difficult was it to install the GT4 covers? I was actually thinking about doing the same thing.

So you already have covers - what are you asking about? The mesh inlet grills from the Radiator Grill Store?

I have not noticed any chips/damage on my side intake covers. I eventually want to paint mine as well. Even if you get a chip every now and then, nothing a little touch up paint cant handle.
