Default Does a higher spec model get allocated earlier?

Hi

So i recently put down a deposit for a base cayman, mainly just to get a allocation spot. I think i've decided on the GTS 4.0, i was wondering if I told them that's the model I wanted, will it move me up the production queue? If not then i rather just wait until production allocation, so i got a few months thinking time.

Second, do anyone have any idea how long it'll take? The agent said it might take a year before i get my car.

Each vehicle has it's own allocations.
If you want the GTS4.0, let them know. Another round of allocations should drop soon.

If you put a deposit on a base cayman that’s the allocation they’re hunting for you, not a GTS 4.0. I don’t know if changing models would move you up or down, and there’s a good chance that there’s a waiting list deeper for the GTS than the S, but you never know.

I wouldn’t waste any time though, let them know what you want. If you flip flop too much, they might lose interest. Good luck!

Unfortunately, upgrading the car doesn't help your "spot in line". I had a deposit on a Boxster S with a "guaranteed" build in April. 5 days later, I decided what I really wanted was the BGTS. I've been waiting on an allocation since Feb and asking at local dealerships for allocations. Result is always the same: "Nope. Maybe when the next batch is released in July."

you should post in the dealer allocation tracker in the GTS/GT4 sub thread. I started looking for a BGTS a few weeks ago, got a referral through this forum, and now I’m locked for a July build and September delivery!

Sorry for being a noob to this, but where on the forum do I find the "dealer allocation" thread? I pulled up the forum, did a search for "dealer" and "allocation" and both, but never got a separate thread specifically to contact dealers. Any info you could provide would be most appreciated.

Thanks. I contacted my SA to ensure I have a demand order in. No word yet. Was there something else I'm missing? Anything else I can do to speed up the process? I have requests out at 6 dealerships in the Northern VA, DC. MD, area and one in Atlanta. Have a $2500 deposit with one local, no one else has asked for anything, and ATL says that if I get an allocation, my deposit will be $10K!! (though she also said that unless the car was built really oddly, they likely wouldn't have any problem selling it and giving me back my deposit if I decide to back out at the last moment (not that I would, but....))
