Default PCNA Requests for trade-ins

Very unusual...anyone else get a request from Porsche North America to trade-in their vehicle at the local dealer? I am used to this from other manufacturers, but did not expect one from Porsche that seems very specific and not just a general request. Cars in short supply?

Yes, cars are in very short supply, where have you been?

My wife gets a letter almost monthly for her Macan.

I think you answered my question Todd...which is...are these requests unusual and sparked by the cars in short supply issue (yes, I did know ) or is this normal for Porsche? I have not had one before, which is why I wondered...cheers!

I have gotten them for years...same with Audi. Perhaps a little more frequent/urgent now but not new.

I asked for a number on mine where I have a car on order and it was absolutely insulting. Not a universal desire, it appears.

It’s quite common…all mfctrs do it.

Got one yesterday as well.
Don't recall getting one in the past. But I usually don't keep cars this long!

This makes no sense. If cars are in short supply, one is trading their car for what?

You're thinking one-dimensionally. It's not just a swap, there is money to be made. For example, with a shortage of flat six Caymans and the price appreciating, a dealer may swap a turbo four 718 for a 981 flat six and make a little money, while gaining a customer. There can be many reasons behind it. Hope that helps...

I get what you are saying. With pretty much only 6 figure Taycans and base Macans in inventory at my local dealers, they have nothing to really offer me as they probably don't want my 718 S and have nothing comparably better to get me out of my Macan GTS. And I think I just realized why I haven't gotten any such letters in a while.

Since the fall I have gotten a letter from the dealer every few weeks offering to take my 991.2 GTS coupe in for a trade for a new 992 4S, which is kind of insulting because if I selected a RWD why would I want an AWD? Also insulting is the offer started at 68K for the GTS, has gradually climbed to 88K but the KBB dealer trade in value (which they claim to target) is 115K.

They have never offered to buy back my base 718 though, it just doesn't get enough respect...

some people have multiple cars , so they can move a car now at good value and then replace down the line when the market cools down

It depends on what you have and what the dealer wants. In my case they wanted my GT3 and offered $158k for the GT3 on a buildable GT4. So I traded my $165k 16k mile 3 1/2 year old GT3 for the GT4. New toy time.

Sounds like fun. Some people say I am getting a GT4, but I would love to get a GT3, my dream car. However the GT3 is out of my budget or hard to get one. You are going the opposite way. Do you think you will miss the GT3?

I don’t think I’ll miss it. Traded my 15 GT3 for a 981 GT4. Traded the GT4 for a 6 speed 18 GT3. Next an 18 GT3 PDK. And now back to a GT4😂. I’ll add a set of ForgeLine’s, Dundon headers, TPC toe links + DSC and Tarett camber plates when it comes in. Same as the 981 GT4. For me, the GT4 is a much better car in the Smokies.
