Been enjoying the threads of the 718 series cars in different colors wondering if the Aventurine Green was at all popular.....

I don't think its that popular. I have an aventurine green S on order. Along the way I collected a bunch of 718 photos from the internet, I could try to upload them if you'd like. Here is a pic of an aventurine green 911 I took at the dealership on the day I ordered my car:

Thanks for that, no need to upload, but it is appreciated.. I have a 718GTS 4.0 on order and I borrowed the color samples from the dealer today and took some photos in and out of direct sunlight and indoors. It is a really interesting color as is Gentian Blue. My dealer had delivered a 911 in Aventurine Green but no 718s. Does not appear to be popular on 718s more so an 911s
Decision time: Gentian Blue or Aventurine Green......

Gentian Blue is gorgeous in person. Looks tri-tone in sunlight. It was my second choice of color for my recent Cayman GTS 4.0 order. Pairs beautifully with black/chalk interior. Aventurine Green is a more subtle and refined color which I don't think makes as much sense on a Cayman.

Aventurine green was my number one pick for the GTS 4.0.
Even when I saw a 992 in person in that colour, I wanted it even more.

My wife saw a 992 in gentian blue when we went together to place a deposit.
so we ordered the blue one

Good for you! I think you will be very pleased, you really can't go wrong with that color. It seems that the "GTS 4.0 " on the door is only offered in black, which is understandable as black is a Porsche GTS marker . However I think a "GTS 4.0" in silver would be a nice option for those who like the darker colors.

I know this is said about a lot of colours in person, but I wish to stress how multi-coats like these two colours can’t possibly show up in person.

The green is very muted directly in light, with your focus on soft yellows and light brown. Only at angles does it look green. It’s quite a refined colour, I do appreciate.

The gentian blue, in my opinion, is by far the least represented colour in photos:
it’s black/blue outside of direct light with a large contrast to nearly cerulean blue with heavy pearl under direct light. It’s quite a starkly presented colour shift.

online here the green seems “garbage bag green” according to my wife and the blue is much darker than it is.

FWIW: Just to throw another crab claw in the gumbo: Some shots of the 2 colors side by side taken both in bright sunlight and shade. Also a few shots of the colors individually in the direct sun. The blue seems to have a slightly deeper shine than the green. Nothing scientific, just some shots of the colors taken with a Coolpix L 29.

Boring colors. One is grey-green, the other is dark metallic blue. Nice if you wear suits to work. The Cayman is a sports car. Live it up. Guards Red, Racing Yellow, or something PTS and more interesting.
