I got a call from my dealer last Wednesday (May 13th) that they now had an official allocation for my GTS 4.0 PDK. They said it would be an October build as a 2021 model with delivery in January-ish. I was also told at the same time that the 2021 dealer configurator was not even released yet so I still need to wait to lock in my order. They said the normal August turnover of production was not going to happen until October since they did not get to make many 2020s of all models due to the shutdowns. I'm *guessing* we will not see the configurator updated on the US site until we get closer to the 2021 model year. It will be interesting to see if the Cayman GTS 4.0 gets launched in the US with both manual and PDK at the same time as a 2021 model.

On another note, I just looked at the Porsche USA site and I actually do not see the new 992 Targa on configurator. The main site has pictures/specs/prices but the configurator does not let you build the 992 Targa. I can still build a 991.2 Targa GTS but not the 992. The international site has the 992 Targa configurator live. Maybe I need to refresh something???

I was able to access the 992 Targa configurator. It even offers PTS!
Different ways to get to it, try the models on the scrolling page

p.s. did they give you any pricing info on 4.0 GTS?

Weird. I went back in and it depends on how you pick the link to the configurator. If I pick from the main page and go directly into build/price I get the old list. If I go into the explore section and look at the new models and then pick the configurator I get the new 992 Targa. Thanks! I get to play with that now!

As far as pricing... I was told starting under $90k back in January but have not yet heard the official base price.

What were the base prices of the 718 Cayman/Boxster GTS 2.5T?

Configurator is live for a model they confirmed a day ago (Targa), but not for the GTS that was announced months ago!? WTF

For 2020:
Base: 59,500
T: 67,750
S: 69,900
GTS 2.5T: 80,700
GT4: 99,200

So I was guessing the GTS 4.0 would come in somewhere between 85,000 and 90,000. I really do not know and there could be a price increase for 2021. I negotiated on a GTS 2.5T and negotiated a % discount from base price plus options, signed a sheet with the percentage, and we were waiting for an allocation on a GTS2.5 when they shut the line down last July. So far, I'm being told that my down payment and neotiated % discount is going to hold for the GTS 4.0. So many things have happened, I really have no idea if my discount is good or bad at this point. I'm very hesitant of stating the discount because I really do not want to put my dealer on the spot (or have you guys harass me !!) depending on whether you think I got a good deal or not. I've had a lot of time to look at the international configurator and I've spec'd out a pretty high end Cayman GTS 4.0. I've saved more while I've waited so I've let my eyes look further up the price sheet. I will finalize my build when the prices come out.

BTW if you have not played with the Porsche Augmented reality app, you really should. Go build something on the international configurator for the GTS 4.0 and save a code. Fire off the AR app and put the code in. You can walk around and look at your build down to the stitching in the interior to see how it looks. The picture below is of a generic (not my build) GTS 4.0 in my actual garage. I hadn't figured out the code thing yet when I took this picture.

Exciting news on your PDK! I am hoping that the manual will start a little bit below $85K (84.9) and the PDK around $88K. I built quite a few PDK cars on the German site just to get an idea.

@TomTarzian Yes - Night Blue
@Tennyson - I hope you are right but the i checked the current configurator and the numbers I posted for 2020 model year prices that I gathered earlier this year are all higher now on the current configurator. So, I'm guessing just a bit more than that now. But I would take 84.9 and 88 - i hope you are right.

I'm ready to build one if I can get PDK and PTS. That the Targa offers PTS gives me hope (just a little but not more). I usually add about $20k in options so with PTS I'd be in the GT4 range ($120k).

The new 992 Carrera is up $2K for 2021. I guess the sinking economy doesn't mean much to Porsche. I'm not sure if that increase is across the board of just for the 992 but the base went from 97.2 to 99.2.

Unfortunately with PTS the availability in the configurator has little to do with the PTS window or if it's even available. You need to be talking to a dealer now and let them know. If there is PTS for the GTS, you will need an allocation that is slated to be built during the PTS window. When I ordered my GT3, I could have had one of my dealers early allocations but instead had to wait for the PTS window. I had a confirmed PTS order long before PTS showed up in the configurator. When it finally did show up, you were pretty much out of luck.

Good summary. Also, patience may be required. My PTS order ended up taking 10 months from being accepted to delivery. Ordered in October and delivered the following (late) July.

So true, I ordered in July 17 and picked up April 18. Car was scheduled to be built several times, date would slide 2-3 weeks each time. Finally was built in Feb.
