Same exact engine, detuned.
Standard 718 suspension instead of GT suspension in GT4/Spyder
Narrower rear wheels / tires
Less ground effect under the car
No front aero/splitter

Think of it like a Cayman S with the 4.0 engine swapped in rather than a different GT4

All that many, who don't want to compromise some creature comfort, and do want more interior and color options could ask for.

Find your Porsche magic where you may.

so the 718 continues the way of the 911 biz model - variation line extensions - cost of $60k/66/72/96 - so lets fill in that gap btwn the S and spyder w a gts people will buy - so the price will be? 84/85 for the gts? and so $12k for the extra 2 cylinders! sounds about right

Very complementary article in this month's Excellence mag about the GTS 4.0, with some comparisons to the GT4 and the 2.5 GTS.

They love the car as a daily driver, close to a GT4.

That’s actually disappointing. I wouldn’t be getting a GTS as a daily driver but strictly as a backroads carver. What I love as a daily driver is my 5 series BMW.

You understand that a backroad carving is daily driving a car, right?

No, I don't. The cars I drive daily to the grocery or hardware store are not my backroad carvers. I don't carve backroads daily.

Fair enough. My point is that it's a street oriented car not a track oriented car. Plenty of us drive sports cars to get groceries. Choosing a larger, softer car is certainly more comfortable for driving daily. A Cayman isn't really in that category so if a magazine states that it's suitable for daily driving it doesn't mean that is minivan, it means it's not as harsh or stiff as a track oriented car. The GT3 touring is considered by many as a comfortable enough to be daily driven. That doesn't mean it isn't going to be fun driving on backroads. Enjoy your BMW and consider trying the GTS and making your own call since this is such a subjective area.

There are three categories for cars: street, back-road, and track -- not just street and track. I don't drive my sports cars on the street, with traffic, traffic lights, busy highways, etc. -- only on empty back-roads, as I prefer to use the right (optimal) tool for each job. A car meant to perform two (or much worse, all three) of those functions reasonably well will not be optimal for either one of them, by definition.

Greg would consider adding a tuned GTS 2.5 to your graffs

It does not help that sometimes things are quoted 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) and sometimes 0-60 mph and then add in all the PDK, manual, sports chrono.... Take the numbers with a grain of salt. Especially when I look at the Thrust curves I have a hard time believing that the new GTS 4.0 beats the old GTS 2.0T to 60mph but that is what Porsche claims. It will be interesting if someone does a side by side drag race on YouTube.

I do not have the 2021 prices for a GTS 4.0 (even though I have put a deposit down on one!) - sorry Dry Side. I did guess 85,000 as a base price in my table - time will tell how close I get.

.

Wow! Such a great job done!!! Porsche AG should have done it on their own and post it on their web-site!

P.S. If you could also incorporate the figures of the ground clearance in the table, that would be awesome. As most, who are making decisions, I believe, are concerned about the ground clearance.
