Thanks! And if you have a chance to add the basic vehicle stats of the 2.5GTS to your first spreadsheet that would be most excellent!

Very enjoyable post. I’ve been curious for a while and if it’s not too much trouble may I ask a favor? Would you be so kind as to show the graph for power and torque as not limited to 300 ft/lbsfor the 718 GT4 and others? TIA

Since the torque is electronically limited to 309 ft-lbs (manual) what exactly are you proposing? You want a graph for a tune?

Curious as to how much Porsche is restricting torque.

Well, yeah, but how do you put together a power curve if you don't know the torque? You can't. If you guess as to how much Porsche is limiting the torque then, once the 309 limit is reached you can keep the same slope of torque vs. rpm until you hit your guess. But, you still have to guess.

Yeah.... I have no idea on how to tell how much they are limiting (if they are limiting). I'm not even positive the graphs they put out are even correct or just marketing. Real dyno plots never are straight line from 2000 to 5500 rpm. I updated the GTS 2.0 curves using the plot supplied - thanks Dry Side. I didn't change my torque guess at 6000 rpm - and it only changed a small amount at 7000 and 7500. I'll re-post at some point but you will not hardly see it. I found a bigger issue and that was that I did not change the tire size for the GT4 when I was cutting and pasting formulas. As a result, the GT4 and GTS 4.0 lines look the same at lower RPMs and they should not. The smaller diameter of the GT4 Pilot Sport Cup 2 gives a slight gearing advantage - you see a little more Thrust and a little less MPH. I'm going to look over the rest of my formulas before I re-post.......

Nice graphs....unfortunately Porsche decided to go this route of analysis when they designed the 718 powerplants it seems. On paper, in graphs and spread sheets the 4 cylinder engines were an improvement over the 6 cylinder motors. Faster for sure. But you don't drive a graph or spread sheet, and you don't have to listen to them either. I am very excited to drive this new GTS with the glorious sounding 4.0 liter 6 cylinder engine from the GT4. With the exact same torque number as the GT4 it seems that the new GTS will very close in a straight line as well. I will have to look very closely at leasing a Cayman GTS for myself in Gentian Blue....

Do you know and share the US$ base prices for the 2021 718 Cayman and Boxster GTS 4.0 models?

Here is the first of a double post with some updates. I update the table at the beginning to add the Base Cayman, Cayman T, and the old 2.5T Cayman GTS. Some of the items were hard to look up since the old GTS is out production. Also, my 0-60 times leave something to be desired. Every time I go down that path I find different numbers. It does not help that sometimes things are quoted 0-62 mph (0-100 kph) and sometimes 0-60 mph and then add in all the PDK, manual, sports chrono.... Take the numbers with a grain of salt. Especially when I look at the Thrust curves I have a hard time believing that the new GTS 4.0 beats the old GTS 2.0T to 60mph but that is what Porsche claims. It will be interesting if someone does a side by side drag race on YouTube.

I do not have the 2021 prices for a GTS 4.0 (even though I have put a deposit down on one!) - sorry Dry Side. I did guess 85,000 as a base price in my table - time will tell how close I get.

I also found some errors with my tire sizes. It does not make much of a difference with the different 265 size tires but the GT4 295 size does make a difference you can see. Here are the values I used.

So the new updated tables for power and torque are shown next.

I'm going to put the new Thrust curves in a separate post to make it easier on me.

So lots of graphs - I'm just going to label and post.

The mega Cayman Thrust spaghetti plot:

All the Manuals:

All the PDKs:

All the Turbos:

All the NAs:

All the GTSs:

That is all for now.....

I’m so confused, can you please repeat that for me?

sorry!!!! Thanks for spending obviously a great deal of time making these graphs and information. It will be interesting to see a heads up comparison on a track between these cars. Selecting a 4.0 GTS PDK sounds like a great car. Best of luck with your new car.

Paralysis by analysis. Numbers mean nothing. If a car pulls on your heartstrings you will drive it and love it. If it doesn't, you'll sell it. The numbers won't tell you which car will do which.

Should be a wonderful ride, but you'll need to be very patient. Who knows when they will really start coming to the USA.

Does the GTS 4.0 have all the special GT magic the Spyder gets?
