I'm sorry to hear this. You don't list your location so I can't make a suggestion, but I bet if you wait you might be able to get one at msrp after all the hoopla settles.

Send the correction video link above to your dealer. He says right in the video that they are going to make everyone a car who wants one. No way I would pay ADM on a GT4 or a Spyder. My SA told me the boss was thinking $20k ADM for the first couple and I laughed and said "call me when the ADM is gone".

I was offered a 2020 M2 competition yesterday at 10k adm. I'll never get that 10 minutes back, but at least I really know how that dealership feels about me so I guess it was worth the time. I find ADM laughable myself, but it's an economy of desire and that has no logic and the dealers know this. The M2 Competition and CS? is anyone cross shopping?

Outstanding interview. I really enjoy hearing the Porsche engineers talk in depth about the design of these beautiful cars.

Couldn't agree more. Six months after release is my guess as to when Porsche dealers will offer the GT4 and Spyder at MSRP. Actually I don't blame dealers for requesting ADMs, but I doubt that they will find many takers. So if they want to sell cars, they'll have to lower their price expectations.

The dealer I bought my last two Porsches from said the same thing so they're fired. Called two other nearby dealers and both are selling at sticker.

don't disagree with your logic but I'd be really surprised if the Spyder outsells the GT4

convertibles just don't get the love

track junkies will favor the GT4
more stringent rules will also favor a coupe

the way I see it:

718 GT4 is incrementally better than 981 GT4 (≈30hp increase, same GT3 front suspension , same "bespoke" rear suspension, same GT3 brakes, same MPSC2 tires and bigger wheels, etc.)

718 Spyder is considerably better than 981 Spyder (≈40hp gain, new GT3 suspension, new "bespoke" rear suspension, PASM, PTV, new GT3 brakes, new MPSC 2 tires and bigger GT4 wheels)

owners of 981 Spyders, please correct me if I have bogus info above as there is not a lot out there on these cars? i know the premise of the 987 and 981 Spyder was lightness, simplicity, "tossability", lack of tech (PASM, PTV) etc, so I guess one could argue that the new cars actually have lost sight of that mantra....

albeit, BOTH cars are heavier (though not as great as magazines are proclaiming because the new standards for weight are differer than last gen) so that is a strike against each.

I replaced my 991.1 GT3 and 981 GT4 for a 991.2 GT3RS and am first on list at dealer for 718 Spyder

Crazy.

I admit up front that I'm ignorant about all things Porsche as this would be my 1st one. My brother-in-law (high-end manager at another dealership and friends with the Porsche GM) might be able to get me an allocation. First he said there'd be ADM and I politely said no thank you. He then asked if I'd pay MSRP and a 10% deposit to hold it. I thought the 10% was pretty steep until I saw the quoted post! Anybody else putting down significant deposits to hold a spot in line at presumed MSRP? Is there some sort of paperwork that guarantees me an allocation at MSRP or do I just write the check and cross my fingers?

Get a receipt for your deposit and include on it in writing that the purchase price is MSRP and have it signed.

I'm skeptical, as none of the dealers I've spoken with can confirm this. All they can say is that they don't know what Porsche is going to do, but are speculating it will be produced in greater numbers than the 981.

I had a 2018 M2 with 6MT, and can't wait to get back to mid engine Porsche.

I got an email from my local dealer 4 days ago requesting a 10K ADM for a GT4.

I wrote back telling them to pound sand (in a nice way) and explained everything discussed here on Rennlist why there shouldn’t be an ADM.

Stealership wrote back and said since I haven’t bought a Porsche from them before it’s 10K ADM to get my foot in the door otherwise no car.

They said the exact same thing to me for the 991.2 GT3 and guess what, I waited them out just like everyone suggested, and waited, and waited, and waited and no allocation even though it seems everyone and their dog got a GT3 allocation.

So I hate to say it but for me fighting for MSRP just isn’t gonna happen. I tried that game, failed, and worse have been without a Porsche for years now. I’m ponying up the 10K ADM and going to build the car I want and actually enjoy driving it. Life’s too short for me to wait another several years just to save 10K.

Sorry guys, you can flame me now for contributing to the ADM problem.......
