718 Spyder allocation and ADM

Any info about allocation and ADM? I noticed many fans put deposit but my dealer will not take any deposit until they get allocation. Bay area, any advice? Thanks.

Advice = don't pay anything over MSRP.

I got a Boxster and a Macan from this dealer at 5% off MSRP. Probably no ADM for 718 Spyder as it is not as hot as GT4. I have better chance to get allocation but not sure I will get any discount this time.

I don't believe specific allocations, but I believe dealers are compiling lists. I would advise visiting your dealerships and announcing your interest, being friendly, gets your SA's info and make sure he has yours and hoping that there isn't too much interest. Be Ready to hurry up and wait. SHHH.

PS. Last time we were coming out of a recession and believe it or not a spyder on the lot might be had for 5 even 6 percent off. I believe most who ordered on spec paid MSRP and I considered myself lucky. LOL I bought 2

I predict the opposite Spyder >> GT4, just MHO, of course

the way I see it:

718 GT4 is incrementally better than 981 GT4 (≈30hp increase, same GT3 front suspension , same "bespoke" rear suspension, same GT3 brakes, same MPSC2 tires and bigger wheels, etc.)

718 Spyder is considerably better than 981 Spyder (≈40hp gain, new GT3 suspension, new "bespoke" rear suspension, PASM, PTV, new GT3 brakes, new MPSC 2 tires and bigger GT4 wheels)

owners of 981 Spyders, please correct me if I have bogus info above as there is not a lot out there on these cars? i know the premise of the 987 and 981 Spyder was lightness, simplicity, "tossability", lack of tech (PASM, PTV) etc, so I guess one could argue that the new cars actually have lost sight of that mantra....

albeit, BOTH cars are heavier (though not as great as magazines are proclaiming because the new standards for weight are differer than last gen) so that is a strike against each.

I replaced my 991.1 GT3 and 981 GT4 for a 991.2 GT3RS and am first on list at dealer for 718 Spyder

Truth

No allocations available yet per my dealer.

Won't be paying an ADM, don't advise the OP to either :D

Would tend to agree. Dealer who called me yesterday said that Spyder allocation a lot smaller than GT4 allocation (which is still small) and they are just waiting to hear final numbers. They did take a rough spec from me though with deposit. No ADM and definitely no discount. IMHO I think the Spyder is the choice car this time around. The later released GT4 with PDK will be popular though.

As stated below, until the dealership has an allocation for the car you wish to order and Porsche AG acknowledges that order in writing with a commission number, you don't have a binding agreement/contract with both the dealership and Porsche AG that can be used to compel the dealership to sell you the car you ordered for the agreed upon price.

Don't pay ADM for any of these cars. Its not a 991 Speedster or GT2 or 911R.

Congrats. Please post any information you gain from playing with the configurator. I'm building a lot of examples myself. I've already submitted my gt silver/red build but I also want a "skittles" Porsche so I'm building some colorful examples.

You don’t have an allocation until you have a commission number.

Yup

There should be no ADM - it’s not limited and will be built for 3 years.

suggest checking out the 981 forum - better info there

My local dealer is taking deposits with no ADM. First Porsche (that I can afford) that I’ve lusted for in awhile so likely going forward next week. Will be the longest year of my life though as I believe they’re due next spring.
