So true. They have a GT4 Club Sport and now a GT4 with available 18 way seats.

my curiosity is why is this car generating so little internet chat now that's its been announced? so cool Porsche bothered to make a new engine for it and give the spyder the full gt4 treatment. no one is really talking about it like they do for last gt4 or gt3, 2

Last GT4 was brand new - so obviously people were buzzed about it.
People expected this GT4 to come out - so naturally it's less of a surprise.

Surprises generally get more buzz

I don't think so... most of the discussion isn't happening here... If you look in the 981 and 981/GT4 section there has been threads that started when the first spy pic were made public. They have been extremely busy this week. Maybe it is time to move those discussions here for organizational purposes.

For the Spyder, an auto-top would be a huge deal for me and many others. They can call it whatever they want (GTS, R, 6, Spyder Touring). Although less excited about it now that the 718 Spyder weighs more than the 981. They need to start making their model flagships lighter before I completely lose interest in anything newer than 2011, much less 2020.

I agree with you. After all the speculation, the topic seems to have died down considerably. Even looking at the GT4 forum here, I don't see the level of excitement I expected. Now that the car is announced, people seem to be moving on to speculating about the touring versions with PD the rest of the 718 line, human nature, I guess. Since the car will not actually be here for a year, maybe the excitement will pick up when people can actually see them.

I think the Touring version would also delete the wing, like the GT3 Touring. I'm not sure what you mean by the adding of 18 way seats - that's just a seat change. Everything else remains the same. You are probably looking at the 2021 model year for an actual Touring version, if there is to be one.

You’re asking for an automatic top but then go on to say that you want less weight?!

i don’t understand the need here - if you don’t like the wing, get the Spyder and get a convertible top to boot.
If you don’t like either, get a GTS.

Exactly a comfortable seat for the GT4. Maybe I am being too dismissive about the touring version. It just sounds like guys are asking for 'softened up" cars when they undo the GT cars by deleting rear wings, adding PDK, looking for automatic tops and adding Burmeister stereos. Just sounds a little oxymoronic for a GT4.

Sure, I also like wheels and less weight. But a car with wheels weighs more than one without them. Very confusing, I know...

I could see them add an auto top to the spyder. nothing too wrong with that. its not made to be a track car so extra 75 lbs or so isn't too bad

I don't think the 981 manual roof is 75lb lighter, maybe not even half that. Would be nice to have the total weight show & change on the configurator as you pick options, or decide between models.

It is silly, to me. An auto-top Spyder (Touring, Boxster R/GTS, whatever), if offered, would allow everyone to make that choice/decision/trade for themselves.
