They were probably confronted by the bean counters, about how much more profitable it was to use this material......

Confronted by the “Green Counters” is probably more-correct...

I wonder if this new sustainable material is more or less tasty to mice than the wiring harnesses on the 9[98]6s?

Ah hah! Now this makes perfect sense given PAG’s drive to become a Services Company. Now, in addition to the yearly oil change, you’ll ‘get’ to pay for a yearly interior (formulated-from-natural-chemicals) pesticide application.

Road and Track also confirmed that the street GT4 will indeed get something other than the 3.8-liter. Most likely the 4.0-liter.

"But you're probably wondering what's going to power the 718 Cayman GT4 road car. It won't be the 3.8-liter—Scholz told us it's only for the race car. After all, this engine hasn't been in production for a while, and it's doubtful that it meets the most recent emissions regulations. But, speaking to our colleagues at Car and Driver in 2017, Andreas Preuninger, head of GT road cars at Porsche Motorsport confirmed that Porsche has no intention to go turbo for the Cayman. That leaves one possible engine for the 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport—the 4.0-liter flat-six used in the 911 GT3. It makes 500 hp in the GT3, though we have to imagine it'll make less in the GT4, just to keep the hierarchy in place."

I wish Porsche would develop a 400hp, ~3.2L, 9k rpm, flat six for the Cayman GT4 street car. Completely unrealistic but 400hp is plenty and they only reason I want a GT3 is for the sound of the motor!

That would be a dream engine and car. Please go to Germany and make it happen

Either we get a 9k-rpm NA screamer and an eye-watering price or we get a non-GT engine at a slightly-above 718 GTS price. Eitherway, it seems most of you will be disappointed.

Well, they got that wrong, so their entire article and perspective is suspect.
