Anyone else disturbed by the 718T
I'm not one of those that thought a Carrera T was going to be a future collectible, but I did like having something that stood apart from a sea of of other Porsches. My Carrera T is to arrive at my dealer any day and I've been more excited about picking it up than most of the other cars I have bought in recent years. Watching the Porsche launch video for the 718 T has really let the wind out of my sails. I thought if it sold well, we would see another T in the future.. But I didn't expect a 718T in identical livery to start up as soon as the 991.2 ceased production. Anyone else share this opinion?

I don’t get why your mental state is in the doldrums.
I think it’s great.
You do realize that Porsche makes models other than the 911. And that they all follow the same progression. Base, S, GTS, Turbo, Turbo <insert model appropriate qualifier>.
With the introduction of the 911T no one should have been surprised by a 718T. Although the convertible fetishists should foam at the mouth about the lack of a 911T cab when they get wind of the 718 Boxster T.
Speculation is that there will be a 718 GT4 w/Touring Package. I look forward to the head explosions this causes with the GT3 crowd.
The market will vote with its wallet.

They run a business, not a practice... They want to make money by offering many choices of their formula.

I understand where you're coming from, but don't feel that way. Maybe it's because I traded in my 981 for the 911. They are very different, and certainly look and sound different, even if they did share a number of things. But that hasn't changed. Porsche always does this, and they have to make money by giving people what they want. Don't at all let this take the wind out off your sails, is what I say. You have a great car, be happy with that. Let others be happy with theirs too. When it comes to high-end sports cars, if Porsche can be considered one, probably best to get what you love and not worry about the rest. There will always be something else coming along. Porsche has to do this to survive, and I'm ok with that, as I want them around.. My .02 ...

Entirely different cars. I can't imagine many people cross shopping them.

The Carrera T was intended to be the model run-out car just like the previous black series cars were on the last generation. It's a much better execution and I really like it but it is just intended to help maintain sales while the 992 production starts. I certainly wouldn't be disappointed in the car because of the Cayman T. The Cayman T still has a four cylinder engine and it's not 1957 and the car doesn't weigh 1000 pounds.

But according to Porsche, the 718 T provides the "Maximum Driving Pleasure" so that makes the 911 T at least second best, if not further down the pecking order.
It's lighter weight than the Carrera T, better chassis, and more than enough power for street use. I can already see all the Carrera T "collectors" running for the exits...oops!

Sadly porsche made cayman t, they copied the great interior of 911t to this? These are infact totally different cars, but I am not very keen of seeing this happening. Of course they did it for gt3 to gt4, why not for T?

T is new market strategy we will see coming from Porsche in future 992 and ? 982. Make base model feel special by trading on past Porsche vibes and reshuffling option cards.

Porsche has one job - to sell more Porsches. I think the T, whether 911 or 718, introduces an interesting build. To me, it's for the canyon carving, back road crowd. Extremely liveable on the streets with the base engine, but more engaging than the base. We bought a base 718 for my girlfriend last year and she loves it. It's the perfect car for her. For me, I love the GT4. But there are all types of people across that spectrum that want something different. And the T provides some of the GT love in a package that is easy to live with day in and day out.
And I see no reason to feel any less excited about your Carrera T. It's a 911. And a 911 will always be a different beast than the mid-engine platform. Regardless of model designation. I would be just as excited knowing I had my made to order T on the way.

Just wait until the Panamera T comes out, followed by the Macan T, then the Cayenne T, and then ultimately the Taycan T.
