Back from another two day event with Suncoast Region PCA at Sebring. We ran in Black Advanced Solo and White Solo again. Here's where we had major issues and we haven't been able to figure it out yet.
The car is constantly going into what appears to be a "turbo limp mode" because engine temps are getting to high. The Accessport read Turbo/Super Charger Underboost and another code for wastegate actuator failure. After 5 laps in multiple sessions the car looses all boost and we have to limp it back around. We know it's not tune or fuel related because we ran the car on the Cobb 93 Tune, 91 Tune, Stock Tune, and we ran 98 octane VP fuel from the track. We tried Sport Mode/Auto, Sport Plus/Auto, Sport Mode/Paddles/ and Sport Plus/Paddles. Same issues on every run. Oil temps were reading 314 degrees and the IAT was over 550 degrees on the Accessport. The car display screen was showing 235 oil temp.
We think it could be a sensor or some mechanical failure. We ran logs on all of those tunes with the same driver so speeds are consistent throughout. John Tecce from BGB Motorsports and COBB Tuning are both looking at them. We will keep you updated on what's going on with the car.
Here's an in-car video of the fastest lap we ran this weekend. IMSA was testing all week so there was a lot of rubber on track making it pretty slippery. Despite the hiccups the car is a blast to drive

Hard to see but looks like it wasn't welded properly but as you say would be fine for street use.
Why don't you use the Soul exhaust as they warrant for track use?
Nice smooth driving by the way. That red 911 was fast at the end of the straight. 991.2 GT3 or GT3 RS?

The car is incredibly easy to drive and very balanced. The red car at the end is a 991.2 GT3 RS and on that run it was being driven by Eric Zitza from Zots Racing. I saw him coming from way back and let him go by before T1

We're looking into Soul Performance actually but the ultimate goal would be to have a single flowing catless downpipe to exhaust so we might have something built. Not too many options out there for these cars and still not many 718's on track. At Sebring this weekend it was us, a Chalk Cayman GTS in a lower group and we may have seen a red 718 Boxster S in the paddock.

Keep up the amazing work guys. If there is anything we can do to support you and your progress, we would love to be a part of it.
On a side note, I went through my data acquisition and I am averaging about 2:26-2:28s depending on the track conditions in my similarly setup Cayman R. In fact it's so similar we have the same wrap lol. I was comparing your in car footage to some I have (below) and it is just amazing how much quicker your car makes speed, that 718 platform is FAST! I have to drive with my pants on fire to even come close to what you guys are getting (especially on exit!) I would love to compare some data, I'm running an AIM SOLO 2 and Apex Pro what are you guys using? Love the Apex Pro by the way, highly recommend calling Andrew Rains and getting one.
Best Regards,
John Gaydos

Thanks for the kind words John and it was great chatting with you this morning! I wish the 718 sounded like your Cayman R. It's grown on us a lot but it's still no flat six at full song.
We're just using Harry's Lap Timer and a GoPro so it's not as accurate as an AIM or something similar.

I would suggest you guys pick up an Apex Pro. It is extremely sophisticated but very easy to use and offers amazing insight. You don't have to be a squiggly line data expert with a laptop to make full use of it.

Here's the video of our first dyno run. Special thanks to our friends from Titan Motorsports for having us join in on the fun at their Open House earlier this month.
We put down 371 wheel horsepower with a Cobb Stage 1 tune, AWE track exhaust, BMC air filter, Forge Motorsport diverter valve, and a splash of race gas.
We have the full Soul Performance Competition Exhaust going on the car next and we'll be working with BGB Motorsports to have the car pro tuned and ready for the track in early May

Did you ever figure out the temp issues causing the turbo limp mode?

Not yet. The new downpipe from Soul is catless so we're hoping that helps. We've been looking for a larger intercooler but we can't seem to find one and we're playing with the idea of running an external cooler in the trunk.

Got it. Thanks. Keep us posted. Maybe it's just too much boost for extended track abuse.

Very possible. They just released Pro-Tuning software for the 718 platform so after our new exhaust is installed we will be having BGB protune the car
