Default 996 TT calipers on a 951, anyone done it?

I upgraded the front calipers on my 996TT, so I have the old ones left and I thought I'd put them on the 951. Anyone else done this?

Yes. They work pretty well, also a snap to change out the pads.

Any "additional" hardware needed?

Are these the 4 or 6 piston calipers? My guess is that Olli will appear on this thread pretty soon.

They are 4 piston, I will check for extra hardware but I don't remember seeing any. You will need new rotors. I have 18" wheels, and I do not know if they will work with anything smaller.

Is there really that much of an advantage to switch over? Or are you just doing it for looks?

When you get on them you had better be braced as they will flat slow you down in a big hurry. Also being over sized they will not fade as bad after being used a few times.

You may want to consider changing the brake bias valve to offset the extra braking power.

Big reds (as in your sig) are a lot different than the monoblocks of the 996tt..............and definitly not the same.

Front adapters work either 4 or 6 pot calipers.
Use search, this issue have been handeled sooooo many times.

Adapters only work if you have an early (220 hp) 951.
If you have a 250 hp 951 the easiest alternative is the 993TT brakes that doesn't need any adapters at all.

...Which are the Big Reds. Basically for 98% of us the BRs are the best upgrade as they're still cheap, bolt on, and increase pad area significantly.
Doing what Olli has done is great if you want the bling, but also for some real high hp trackcars going up from the BRs is worth it. Cooling is another advantage of the Monoblocks.
Adam, I reckon these are your next project.

No, the 968 uses the smaller calipers as found the S2 and 220hp 951, so those are perfect to use with newer calipers and adapters.
