Default How do you honestly know if you........

are becoming a better driver/racer, besides your lap times?

Are there any factors to help you determine your progress?

You compete in a race against the top drivers in your class and actually win before posting another internet thread

Simple....count the number of pit babes that gather around you and your car.

True, but you asked how you know you get better. Most people peak at some point and stop getting better. Its hard to keep pushing yourself and improving. There are 4 stages if you ask me:

Peak lap times -- can you go just as fast as anyone else
Consistency -- you can repeat that peak lap time over and over with a tenth or two
Race craft -- you learn to pass, setup passes and defend without blocking
Winning -- the end goal

Lather, rinse, repeat.

DATA

(you said better than lap times, having lat Gs and accel/decel / braking points teaches you WHERE you're getting better)

Dr. Pain, is the question "how do I know if I honestly am improving...", or "how do I insure that others can see that I honestly am improving..."? Very different questions with very different answers for some.

Sorry Doc, given the responses above, it was a serious question. And the answers are completely different to each. Sorry to see that you are so sensitive to anyone asking you a questions about clarifying your question.

I'm happy to hear that you didn't find comprehending your own question to be difficult.

Paolo,

Take what Collin wrote, print it on a 3X5 card and tape it to your dash. Read it before you go out of the pits. Add one more. Don't hit sh*t!
