Default Just a thank you....

I just want to say thank you to Steve at Rennsport Systems for being kind enough to help me locate a DME from all the way across the country. Although Steve had no luck I want to thank him for his effort and the great conversation we had. I wound up finding a used DME in Florida from a 1997TT. This was the unit I needed so Autothrity can flash it. So from yesterday to today the DME is programed and on its way up to NY. Thanks to all....
Lets see Barney run now....... Oh before the program it made 421hp and 416tq at the wheels. Lets see now..

I thought Steve was able to "reflash" a '96 ECU, instead of buying a '97 ECU to reflash (no quotes)?

Nope......The early DME can not be flashed. Thats why all of the tuners recommend getting a 1997 DME. It can be flashed over and over again.

I believe Kevin can flash the 96's (but it requires sending him the DME. I also believe with the 97 unit you can just change the chips (back and forth). btw this is not from any experience just from research before I bought my car.
Barney: is it Pitstop that is doing the flash? they are part of autothority. Also why use them instead of Kevin? I have heard some not so positive talk about autothority chips on our cars...again not from personal experience. I had pitstop do my ppi and was very impressed with there shop, I even took lots of pictures of the shop...I believe Omar was the tech. really good guy, seemed very knowledgable.

My car had Autothority Pitstop mass air and DME in the car. Some how along the sales of my car the Autothority DME was taken out and sold. The DME that was in my car was not programmable. Mihn was the tech who did the work for me.
As for Kevin.. I did not purchase any of my Turbos and upgrades from him so I doubt he would have done a chip for me...I do love his products but I cant afford them at this time...

Even though the early DME can't be flashed, the chip can still be changed by real tuners, ask european tuners about your issue and they'll all laugh!

Just curious to see what it cost you for a used 97TT DME?

The motor is totally stock. I did a set of Blouch K16/16G Hybrid Turbos, Fabspeed Cat delete pipes,Fabspeed mufflers,5 Bar. regulator, Motor sound airbox,Authority large mass air meter, Greddy profect.IIB Boost controller @ 14psi.Autothority Custom chip.
With the new program I will run 16psi.
We had it on the dyno again today and the program still needs a little tweeking at 5,000 rpm. Still a little lean.
The car is being dynoed at Deman Motorsports here in NY. Spencer, Rick, and Joe are a great group of guys...
