1959 356 Custom
Greetings fellow motorists! I have a 1959 356A that has a lot of customization. My grandfather bought this car brand new and did many bigger better faster stronger upgrades.. For example, it has C brakes, a 912 engine, Weber 44's, a DC10 oil pressure gauge etc. Since I am not the mechanical genius that he was, I do my best to maintain this regular driver. When putting new "shoes" on her, I had the rear wheels off and noticed the rubber stoppers for the suspension has started to crack and tear on the left rear. I ordered what I thought was the right part from Wulfsburg for a 60-something VW bus. These are just about 2-3 inches too short. I have been searching manuals, books and posts to located these parts but have been unsuccessful.
1. What is the correct name of these "stacked donuts" suspension parts? Suspension stopper? The closest I have come to identifying it is Figure 3 in Section R7 of the 356a Workshop Manual under Transmission with Rear Axle and Suspension.
2. Are there shops that still carry them?
3. If if breaks completely, what is the risk to the car?
4. Can anyone help me locate the ones that I need?
5. How the heck do you remove them? Do you have to take off the disc brake dust cover to get in there properly?
The ones installed are about 6 inches tall, there are 4 "donuts" each one larger than the one above it stacked on top of eachother.
Any comments or help is really appreciated! Thanks Gang!

FWIW, NLA and Stoddard Ohio merged last year wrt to their "Classic" line (i.e., 356) parts. Used to be that Stoddard had a lot of OEM and NLA had the best replica parts (along with some OEM) and you'd get Stoddard's fantastic catalog and use the part numbers to order from Brad at NLA.
Fightin's over; they've joined forces and better for all of us as there's a deep well to draw from and shipping to all-over is quicker.
