Default RJT...any pics of a Fashion Grey 356?

im on the fence about what color to paint my 928, its between the new CGT GT silver and the Classic 356 Fashion Grey.

Iv found a CGT in the Fashion Grey, and some paint samples on the net but id like to see more actual cars... i figured you might be the best choice with your extensive photo library.

No rush it only going in on Monday for paint
i might end up just telling the Guy "surprise me, here is the two colors i like best"
Anyways thanks for all the pics you have posted..great stuff.
I really like the 356 outlaws .

Hi Tommy...I think "Fashion grey" was used on the very first 356 models...it will be very hard to duplicate because it was not an enamel finish, as on the later models (1955-1965)...

Good luck...

Thank you.................

I'll look through our pictures and see if we have a shot of a 356 in Fashion Grey. Isn't it sort of like a Dove Grey with a little more blue tint? Sometimes pictures ('specially digital pictures) don't show the true color. You almost HAVE to see it in person. I love Dove Grey Roadsters with Navy Blue tops... Yummy.....

If you are anywhere near Southern California, try to make it to the Dana Point Concours on July 8th. If there's a Fashion Grey anywhere in town, it will probably be there. OOOPS..... YOU SAID BY THIS MONDAY???

Thanks RJT but im in NH.. so little bit of a ride.
Fashion Grey is dove gray with blueish red undertones...looks just like the cloud color of a fast moving summer lightning storm.
Iv found the color code 531 but as you have said...not going to be easy to match.
Check out these pics of the CGT iv found. https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...7&page=7&pp=15

Why don't you have your shop make you a sample of color code 531? See if you like it. If you do, use it, if you don't then you aren't out too many bucks for a can of paint.

Do you have any pictures of your car as it sits now, pre-paint?

here's a good source for correct 356 colors, & they'll sell you a reference card for your painter to match. http://www.willhoitautorestoration.com/PaintChart.htm

I wouldn't select (or reject) a color based upon the way it looks on screen or in a photo - it ain't real. I've seen the Carrera GT in Fashion and it is pretty impressive - but it's all a matter of taste. Was there ever a Porsche that didn't look great in silver?

I think you made the right choice for a 928. I didn't really like the color on the CGT in the pics in all honesty, although I love it on 356's. I find for most Porsche's that they look best in colors more akin to their era ...if you know what I mean?

It definitely does...I thought the pics were great!

Tbh I never used to like sharks very much but I saw a simply stunning one (black) parked up the street from me the other week and it looked incredibly modern and sleek with an aftermarket spoiler (something else I don't usually go for) and since then I've really started to like them more and more.
