Default 1965 356C in garge for 20 years

I have a friend who's father drove his 1965 356C for 100,000 miles until a piston ring broke. Then it just sat for about 20 years in a barn. The question is: what's it worth? I know this is impossible to answer without a serious look at the car, but I saw a 356 on eBay that was a rust bucket for $20k. That particular car would need a complete restore.

Is it a coupe? If someone paid 20K for a rust bucket coupe, they got taken. We need a lot more information to help!

a complete, worn-out, non-functional, barn-find 356C coupe of no special value (history, rarity, options) might start around $5K and go up (or down!) from there. consider it will need everything & the resto gets pricey in a hurry... or slowly.

356Cs are nothing that special, and we would need a lot more information to properly value the car. Anyone paying $20K for a rust bucket is asking for it, and I don't trust eBay after seeing so many BS auctions, shill bids, etc, not to mention how digital photos often lie. The value differential is huge, so a lot of information is needed to figure out what a particular car may be worth.

I would hazard to guess that any car sitting in a barn for 20 years is going to be full of rust as well, so you may just have rolling sculpture in the barn

I think what Cole meant is that a regular "C" is in the group of cars which a full restoration will cost more than the car's market value...

After all...

We know they are all F...special!!!!

Thank you Pedro--yes, I meant they are not a Speedster, Convertible D, etc, not the rarest of the 356s I have a T-6B, so it's really a B trying to look like a C minus the disc brakes and increased number of lights in the dash!
