What is the recommended spark plug that is widely available for the 1600 engines? I have a set of Bosch C145 new in the boxes but don't know if these are correct. Bosch no longer lists any plugs for air cooled stuff on their website.
I am running Webers and a header, should I use a hotter than normal plug in my 1964 B engine?

I would check Stoddard's for any parts, as they have an exceptionally good web site dedicated to 356 parts.

from their website...
"... spark plugs recommended by 356 Registry members:
Bosch W6BC
NGK BP6HS"
http://www.356registry.org/Tech/sparkplugs.html
you might consider joining - very useful... good luck!

I'd recommend the Bosch Platinum WR7BP...the difference is the core...the W6BC has a copper core and the WR7BP has a platinum one...the WR7BP is reliable (no misfires) in high RPM's...

Pedro & all,
I've heard many 356 mechanics advise against the tiny electrode platinum plugs for a 356. platinum plugs are optimized for modern, very high voltage, black-box controlled, catted motors.
it is pointed out that such plugs aren't forgiving of oily, rich charges as are typical of carb'd 356 engines - & 6K rpm ain't that high anyway... & I've never heard anyone criticize the good old copper-core, wide range, tolerant of loading-up in city driving, cheap NGK (or std Bosch, if you insist) in a 356... so, "do what thou wilt", but new tech + higher cost doesn't make something better on our 40+ yr old cars just 'cause...
