Default Looking for comments on this 356C Cab for sale

I'm still very early in the learning phases on these cars but noticed this listing (actually my wife found it on the web) - 356C for Sale .

I'd appreciate any perspective if anyone knows this car, any comments on the car and what an appropirate purchase price would be for this car.

Thanks much,

Rick

Rick, this appears to be a pretty nice C driver, seems to have been well-maintained, nothing bad sticks out from the picts. As to price, well, it is not completely out of line, nor is it a steal - this is a thinly traded market (an article on this very subject by Jim Schrager in the current 356 Registry lists examples sold from $50-135K). It has gone through 3 transfers in the last few years; TX to CA to NY, so everyone's gotta make a $...
This car has the standard motor, nothing wrong w/ that, but not the higher power S version (some knowledgable owners even prefer the regular one).

If I were considering this car (& if I were looking for a Cab, I would), I'd want to know...
- details of the car's history, contact w/ an owner when it was in the same family,
- details of the old restoration; when, who, what work, records & photos?
- details of the car's usage history; all year around? all weather? accidents? records?
- discussion of what the car will need next...
& I'd have an independent PPI performed.
good luck!

Everything he said!

The interior looks a little worn and for that price it should look a little fresher.

PPI. PPI, PPI! PPI is your friend!

Good Luck!

Very rare steering wheel!! If original, this alone would be worth around 1000 dollars.

Hi Rick...I'll have to agree with Jo regarding the interior...besides a little tired, it does not have the true 356 (C or SC) look...too much cushion probably...I think the hood was repaired...probably kinked in the past...and the hood handle's crest is a reproduction...not the orange enamel one...the engine is far from clean...it's not a big deal but it would bge if I'm paying almost $80k for the car...as Jo said...PPI...PPI...PPI...

By the way...if the slotted spoke VDM steering wheel is original...it's worth a way more than $1K!
