I guess it's time I title and insure this little girl. My regular insurance company will only insure it at standard depreciated value (nowhere near real value). What company do you people recommend? Leland? Looking for an agreed value policy, most likely.

get quotes & compare coverage from the specialists; Leland, Grundy, Haggerty, Parish-Heacock... there are others... they usually advertise in Sports Car Market, Hemmings & similar.

Hi Ken...Leland got my business while I had the 356...about $300/year...you have to own a daily driver (you have the 993), keep the 356 in a covered garage and drive less than 5000 miles/year...I was happy with their service but never had to file a claim...

I recently used Leland too, very inexpensive. The only problem I have is that in the fine print, the policy does not cover to and from work. I'd like to occasionally drive the 356 to work, but potentially not having coverage bothers me.

I have an agreed value policy on my C coupe with my State Farm agent - kinda nice having a local guy. As a bonus, he reduces coverage appropriately (and therefore premiums) when the car isn't running for a long period of time.

i've insured via Leland before - dropped them b/c of the drive to work clause (i do every once and a while), 360.00 for 35K value.
then basic via Nationwide (no collision or theft since they woulld not cover that
Now i am with Hagerty for 320.00 w/ 35K agreed on value.
they will get my 92 cup business now as well (they allow limited drive to work coverage)
both are pretty good actually

My insurance guy (who is also a client and a close friend) is telling me that I can probably add my 356 to my regular Safeco auto policy and that the premiums will be similar to Leland, etc. Don't have the exact quote yet, but I had assumed Safeco would be much more but now find that they will apparently rate the car the same way Leland does, i.e. low cost (but without the commute exclusion). So don't rule out your normal auto insurer without getting a quote.

Same here--my State Farm agent wrote agreed value policies on both my 356 [also lowered rate due to it being a 5K mile or less per year car] and my Daily 1991 M5 [the blue book is hysterically low on these cars].

I love State Farm insurance from my experiences with them FYI.
