1953 356 Bent window value?
Hello all,
I will be looking at a 1953 Bent window cabriolet for sale soon. Was wondering if you all can give me a little insight on value. Here's a little info on the car that the owner has told me via phone:
1953 Bent window cabriolet.
Original engine (no COA)
stored since 1990
White/Red. Repaint once to original color
0 mile on rebulit engine.
I have not seen the car myself but will shortly. Owner says the car is dusty and is getting it ready for showing. What should I be looking for other then the usual rust? I have information about engine number for that period to check if the engine is of that period. I myself was interested in buying a driver (60-65 356) and was told that these cars are more for the collectors and not really a great driver. Is that correct? If the car is indeed in excellent condition as stated by the owner is the asking price of $47,000 correct? I think it might be a good deal and if I buy and don't enjoy it at least I can sell and make my investment back? Any input would be appreciated.
