F.O.S.?
The local PCA just did a winery tour last Saturday, and the old guy giving the tour at the winery (not in the club) was recalling all the Porsches that he used to have starting with a 356 speedster. His story included ownership of a 1963 turbo 356. I'd guess he was confusing it with a Corvair, but he vividly recalled all the turbos that he went through and how Porsche was so good about replacing them.
A little too much wine perhaps?

I wouldn't be so harsh as to say fos, however yes to the wine issue - not that there is anything wrong with that... (Porsche turbo program began under Piech in the competition dept. w/ the 917-10K around '71) if he can recall, perhaps he might tell you in which barns he left all those 356s... just pm me the locations, thanks.

No, he elaborated about letting the engine idle after runnning to let the turbos cool down so they wouldn't get coked. I even asked him specifically if it was a 356 (since he said 1963), which he confirmed. It did not sound right to any of us, but I thought I'd post it here and see if there was any sort of ultra-rare 356 turbo. I thought I had recalled 76 being the first year.
It WAS really good wine....
Sorry, no 356 barn finds, but he did say there was a 928 parked out on the property awaiting rehab.
