Default Tail lamp placement.

I need a little help. Could/would someone take a few measurements for me? I need to know . . . on a 356A with tear drop tail lamps.

The distance between the tear drop tail lamps, inner edge driver's side to inner edge passenger's side using the chrome surround as the "edge".

The height of the housings from the bottom of the body lip to the bottom edge of the chrome surround. Measure from the approximate mid length of the surround.

The height from the top of the bumper to the lower edge of the chrome tail lamp surround. Again using the mid length of the surround as a measuring position.

Those tear drop lamps can look so WRONG if they're just the slightest bit canted or inboard, but I have no reference left on the sheetmetal to guide me. I want to be sure that they're correct

Any help at all would be a huge help.

Thanks !

TC

TC,
Here's what I came up with on my 58 Coupe.......

30 3/8" between the tail lamps at the chrome.

9 1/4" from bottom of body to lower edge of light at edge of chrome.

3 3/4" from top of bumper to lower edge of chrome.

Hope this helps,

Robert

Thank you Robert ! ! That helps enormously! If you get a chance could you also PLEASE let me know the measurement for the lower body edge to the lower bumper edge for the front AND rear, and the measure between the top of the rear bumper and the bottom of the tail lamp at the chrome bezel, and the distance between the hood to body seam and the top of the front bumper? Only if it isn't a pain to do it, OK?

It would help out a TON ! ! ! I just haven't been able to find this kind of info for the 356A anywhere. I'm re-cutting the holes in the car for the various bolt-ons before the final fill and sand and I want it as close to how it was originally as I can get.

Thanks !
TC

No problem........

Rear lower body edge to lower edge of bumper...5/8"

Front lower body edge to lower edge of bumper is flush (0")

Top of rear bumper to bottom of tail lamp chrome bezel.....3 3/4"

From bottom of hood to top of bumper is....8"

From bottom of hood to body lower edge is....13 1/2"

Any more? Just let me know.

Robert

Thanks you once again, Robert ! !

How about just two more (for NOW anyway . . . ) ? Could you please measure the distance between the bumperettes on the front and rear bumper. I imagine that inside surface to inside surface would work, or center to center, or whatever is easiest.

Plus the distance between directional surround (on horn grill assembly) and head lamp surround. I know that the directional is centered directly below the head lamp, but I'm not sure of the distance between the two.

Thank you for all your help on this!

Again, no problem!

Distance between bumperettes.....Front 31" on center
Rear 27 1/2" on center

Distance from directional and headlamp.....2" bezel to bezel
