Default Gender of 356 and other Porsche

JoAnne writes in another post....
"BTW: Gunter is a peach of a car. He is DEFINATELY a keeper!!!!!"

Last month upon acquiring our new Boxster I had someone say... She sure is sweet, refering to the car. My 356 C coupe is genderless in my opinion as is our Boxster so the question is....
Did I buy a gendered car?

Note: I've tried to be a P.C. as good taste will allow.

Mike

I think all Porsche's have their own personalities and I name them accordingly.

Hans was our '74 911. He was black on black with a wide tail and just looked nasty, hence the male name. I named the Boxster Ferdi because it's rear end was more Male than Female in my eyes. The 993 C2S was Hans II because he had a mean look to him. Big rear, big wheels, big everything. The Cayenne was Franz because I thought it looked like an overweight German who enjoyed his beer way too much. The 993 Cab was Sascha (as in the female form) because her curves where more of the female type than the one's on the C2S. Our first 356 the '65 was called Helga because we both took one look at it and said it was "a really pretty car", not handsome, but pretty. Men are not Pretty. Our '55 Outlaw was named Max 1) in honor of Max Hoffman and 2) because it looked and was "One Bad Assed ****", Robert's words not mine. The '58 is Gunter becuase he just acts and looks like a guy named Gunter that I worked with in So. Cal. The '55 Speedster is Gretchen. She is just so cute you want to squeeze her little cheeks.

Wow. See what happens when you don't have any kids to name? You name cars instead!!!!

JoAnne

PS: Mike J:
Check out your painting! it's all done and up on the mantle. We LOVE it!!!!

Default Gender

The art never looked better! The piece had moved with us for many years after I completed it finally ending up (like the cobblers childern) forgotten leaning up against our furnace in our old house. Our recent move into way too hip downtown Minneapolis loft space and the up and coming Parade had me scrammbling to find worthy pieces of art. Well, nothing like an oldie but goodie in my book.

The painting has never looked better. Perfect frame and location. Thank you for taking care of this early work of mine. Mike

Although I believe the only gendered cars are the French ones "La voiture"...you can choose your car's gender as you wish...as long as you don't try to mate with them!!! Usually I'd consider them "it", but if I had to choose a gender, in respect to Dr. Ferdinand, I'd choose a male name to call my Porsche...a Ferrari would definitely be a "she" though! Very complicate matter!!!

PS. Hey Mike...I didn't forget your "Christophorus", but the issue you are expecting is yet to come...

I think you're right. No kids and 2 356's, one called Kate and the other called Hannah. With those curves they had to be female. No offence!!!

Cheers,

Warren
